Carvin needs more synth ready guitars.  The luthier is breaking the warranty on my ST300 right now for a GK installation.  Can't wait!

The ST300 is very similar in design to my Jackson Soloist.
The biggest problem is that there's very, very, very little space between the bridge pickup and the tremelo for a hex pickup.

I solved that problem on my soloist by moving the bridge pickup north a couple of millimeters:

If I had to replace it I'd probably go for one of the Carvin ST300 models since they're virtually identical in construction but if I had to replace the Jackson the cost has gone up, up, up exponentially since I bought it.

They also have a new Jason Becker model that appeals to the shredder in me.  I'm not keen on maple boards but it looks nice.

Ben - I tried an eight string recently and the neck was wider than that of my six string bass - it was like the deck of an aircraft carrier.  But I wonder how they would handle processing EIGHT signals from an electric guitar since all modern guitar synth units seem to be keyed to process six only.

If you look at X-Ray Simon's Koyabu board, he's got TWELVE strings so he uses TWO GK pickups to TWO connected units, one VG-99 and one VB-99.

I thought it worth mentioning that this problem only exists if you get the ST300 with a floyd.  The wilkinson and string-thru bridge give you just enough space to drop the GK in there, all without touching the bridge itself.
