To V or not to V: That is the question.

Just brought a used GK-2A + cable on a local eAuction for $43.00US

Love it when GK stuff is hidden away in the 'other' catagory.

That's cheap! I did grab a GK2 recently for £40 - (I actually prefer the GK2's being wider to rest your hand on ) - they work very well with GR-55 too

Elantric - thanks again for the fabulous group buy deals!  I've already taken advantage of several of them and was wondering if there's a possibility of adding the Roland GK Kit GT to the list.

Its a Fender Part number 0047921000 " Pickup Ass'y Roland"

referencing our schematics thread here:

We see the Roland Ready Strat Service Manual PDF here
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=73.0;attach=6977

and see that all parts for GC-1/Roland Ready Strat are listed in the PDF. Order the parts you need direct from Fender.

Call Fender Customer service in Arizona

Elantric, thank you very much for all your help.

I installed several internal GK-3 now. But I do not install the Synth volume, or the Up/Down switches, or the Guitar/Synth toggle switch.  These are redundant and I feel they clutter the front if the guitar.

I just received a GK-KIT-GT3 from Anderton's.  Delivered to my house in southeastern AZ, the total cost was $116. And it was delivered in 5 days including the weekend.

starlessffxi

I just ordered one of these from andertons, but they are warning me of this:

"Please note that all products supplied by Andertons are intended for use at UK mains voltage 230v, if you are in a country where mains voltage is anything other than 220v-240v you'll need to use a stepdown transformer which would be sourced and used at your own cost and risk."

I would assume this is a standard warning when they ship anything overseas due to the voltage difference and I can't imagine the roland pickup suffering from any of this since it derives its power from the unit itself which is already converted internally.

Headless68

no worries - the GK kit takes its power from the V / GR or GP device so won't matter

FYI,
Ordered my Roland GK3 Internal Pickup Kit from Anderton's on Wednesday, October 4th, received it today, Monday October 9th! Total with shipping and handling was $120.38!

Very happy with their service! Can't be beat.

Thanks for posting this. I ordered one today. .

What I need now is find a custom pickguard Supply Company for a Roland G505 so I don't have to drill the original.

I'm hoping I will be able to place the 13 pin Jack where the quarter-inch Jack currently is.

It would also be nice if I could figure out how to use the stock g505 hex pickup to run both 24 pin electronics and the 13 pin stuff.

Guess I got Forum searching to do.

...I could make a suggestion, but it would probably look like self-promotion again.. ;)

I haven't looked at the internal workings of the g505 or studied how the GK internal kit is installed.

I did read your PFD and the thread you linked to and it mentions that you have 11 different configurations. Which one would you recommend?

I make a number of variations-on-a-theme, which include models with pre-attached cable and the appropriate multiplugs to connect directly to the GK Internal mainboard.  Which one would potentially suit your installation depends upon how long the cable needs to be to reach from wherever you locate the jack on your guitar, to where you end up having to place the mainboard.
Within the range of Synth-Linx Jacks I supply, I currently manufacture models for the R-R Strat / GC-1 Strat (with about a 5-inch cable), direct replacements for the Roland Jack on a GK3 Internal Kit (with about an 8-inch cable), or special units to order (with whatever cabe length is required for a specific custom installation). Synth-Linx Jacks require a 5/8" (round) hole for installation, rather than the (much) larger square hole necessary to install the standard Roland jack, and have a metal body with 5 ground contact points to mate with the outer shell of a standard 13-pin jackplug as found on original and after-market 13-pin leads.
All of these models sell for 40USD each + 5USD shipping from Australia.

If you think that this may be of help to you, send me a PM with your email address and I will send you more information.

Review the VG Guitar pic thread - many here use Gumbo's custom GK 13 output jacks

Only requires a simple 0.595" round hole to install

These are still 200 less shipped to the US than buying here. Almost feel like I should grab extra but it hasn't changed in years. I need to get another one but they're out of stock, though they're restocking next month. I worry sometimes this stuff will become harder and harder to get but at least with the new 13pin units still being released, they'll be in demand again with each new device.
