Hi, After reading through many post on various threads I decided just to start a new one. For those that are using the internal Gk-3 kit and are looking for a rock solid alternative to the Roland 13 pin connecting system. Mouser electronics (and other suppliers) have a great selection of Amphenol, Mil Spec, multi pin, twist lock connectors. These things are approved for expensive military hardware and are easy to wire/solder if you buy the pin insertion tool. Remember, it doesn't hurt to have a few extra pins, you don't have to have exactly 13, you don't even have to insert the the spares. Besides you could use them for some other reason, just make sure they are shielded (with a separate drain in your cable) so you don't bleed into the Roland signals. Or you can cut the end off the original Roland cable and solder on the new pins in its place, then insert them with the tool. Just don't get the wires mixed up! I've used these things extensively and they have never failed me!

I'm a big fan of Lemo and Minicon connectors.  Either make pretty good replacment for 13 pin. MINIcon is only 12 conductor, though. Lemo is bizarrely expensive and kind of difficult to terminate...but they are fantastic!

wow,
many thx @admin for posting the alternatives!
much much appreciated ...
well yes saw a few too but not able to order them...
also the connection to guitar body is not easy to find ... a working solution... reliable... no too tiny
so the only available here in germany to me was the one i've posted...
and that works direct with the 13pin midi cable from Roland...

QuotePricey at $29 / ea  - incompatible pinout and still a plastic right angle shell on the plug (?)
YES ... but no alternatives... and it's no plastic ... all metal ...only for cable flexibility like you see on the pic...
they exist also in black... but can not wait another 4 month until they are available... ;-)
anyhow... have now two guitars with the 14pin... and very happy...
if there is a reliable alternative that works and is smaller... i'm happy to try and switch...
because my battery plate with the 14 pin hole is self made... i'll can change it to my needs...
many thx

Let's not forget the Cycfi Research 19-pin alternative already on the market for several years:
