Be sure to set your PC to High Performance

Follow the steps here:

Avoid running the VG-99 Editor when also running  your DAW application

Make sure you are using a USB 2 port, and not USB 3.

The VG-99 editor was made way back in the days of Windows Xp.
I suggest using a Windows 7 installation/computer
Free "GR-55 FloorBoard" editor software from https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/

FWIW, I went on eBay and spent about $140 on an old refurbished Lenovo corporate fleet laptop running Windows 7. I got it for the sole purpose of running the VG-99 editor, and practicing the guitar/VG-99 along with audio on the laptop (all of which comes out of the VG-99's headphone jack when connected). Works perfectly.

Thanks, ChrisF. I'm thinking about doing something similar.
