USA James Tyler JTV Variax VS the Korean JTV
(1/1)
Player99:
Can anyone tell me the differences between the US and Korean models?
Is it worth the extra money to buy the USA versions?
Anyone own either that got to try the opposite before buying?
I am looking at the JTV69 models.
Anyone with either I would appreciate your thoughts.

about $2K ;)
I have played both, and frankly I could not perceive much difference.
Both use identical hardware - and electronics, the exception is the USA model uses Hipshot staggered height locking tuners. The Korean version uses Gotoh staggered height locking tuners Both had same Neck profile.
The paint is nicer on the USA model, and I saw a few that had a polychromatic type color - rather like the EBMM John Petrucci model, that looks purple when the light hits it one way, then green when the light hits it another way.

I understand the wood is nicer, and that makes the USA ones sound better with the magnetic pickups. (?)
Also the USA necks are better, and are more precise, like a PRS CE VS a USA PRS worth $4000. Apparently the company making the Korean JTV'S also makes the PRS CEs.
