The Life and Artwork of Solveig Arneng Johnson - Documentary Soundtrack

(1/1)

All:

Earlier this year I did a soundtrack to a documentary using just the VG-99 to do it.  This is "Part I" of what I did - just the ambient stuff.  There's a "Part II" that's guitar, midi acoustic piano, faux string bass and strings that may come out later too but most of that stuff didn't get used in the documentary but was interesting in its own right.

For the production they had a local jazz pianist and composer Benny Weinbeck come in with his trio to do the jazz sections which I was not involved in. Solveig, the subject of the documentary is very soft spoken so a lot of what I did for the music was very soft, very introspective music.

Here's the website to the documentary:

Right now there is a film tour of universities (Finnlandia University, Finnish American Heritage Center among others), a cinema in Duluth, Minnesota as well as this is slated for later airing on PBS in the U.S. and the equivalent of PBS in Norway I'm told.  More info as I get it.

And here's the link to my soundtrack.  You can listen to the entire thing for free and there is a paid download option:

Without the VG-99 I could not have done this project.  It would have possibly been done in another way but it wouldn't have turned out this way.  I was pretty happy with the way it turned out all things considered.  Enjoy!

Jim Williams:
Very nice work, You really know how to make the COSM synth models sound like synths. The ambient pads are very rich and spacial sounding. I do so much work on the Guitar sounds I forget about making many cool pads. I wish my GR-55 had the effect arsenal my VG-99 has and maybe I would dip into the COSM synth models more. I guess I have the option of setting up my 99 again in my studio. ( I have to laugh at myself, My studio is my bedroom) Boy, I made that sound like I had a hole room dedicated to music.

Alienspore:  this is really good!  I'm listening to it right now in my iPhone.  Very nice textures, hard to believe it's all cosm if I got that right.  Very similar to my own projects. Really enjoying listening to this.

Mrchevy:
Very nice and tranquil, I bet it would go great with G-Force on the compooper screen 8)
