My GK-Kit Installation Video
« on: August 16, 2010, 05:37:59 PM »

Recently, I decided to install a GK-Kit into a new guitar as my Ibanez RG540P is growing old on me.
I have never done this before so I documented the whole thing in HD video and uploaded it to youtube and vimeo for anyone interested.
There are a few VG-99 demo videos out there but none related to the installation of the GK itself so I thought this may be of interest.

Basically, I spent probably around 12 hours total on the installation and decision making etc. I trimmed it down to 27 minutes to try and give anyone like myself who hasn't done it before some insite.  You should be prepared to be fairly handy with woodworking tools and a soldering iron.  I include a complete tool parts list at the end of the video.
Hopefully this is of some use to someone interested in installing one themselves.

Its comes in two parts due to the length.  They can be found here:

Thanks.  I'm intrigued to do another one but on a completely custom guitar and body that has nothing but just the gk pickup only....... (but maybe next year. lol)

If it happens less to do on your next one.  How about showing a few solderings. I need it. I am terrible at it.

Better:

Here's when you want to start soldering on the 13 pin connectors and on circuit boards:

Great job, A to the T, both on the installation and the video. ;)

Thank you for having made the latter and for sharing it. :)

When is part III, "The test run", coming out?  ;D

I was thinking the same thing. I thought at the end of part two we'd see you trying it out through the VG-99.  :)

Ok, I can do that.  Gimme a week or so to set something up.  I'll make an attempt to demo the guitar and some of the patches I've made.
