software improvement
« on: January 29, 2008, 03:29:23 PM »

I get frequent crashes when trying to restore a backup of my patches. I sure would like a simplified foolproof way to copy/audition and backup patches. I find it confusing that there are 2 different file types. I can backup my set to librarian files and then get a message it can't read this file type when trying to restore my backup from the librarian.

secondly: I posted a while back that after downloading a patch, the jog wheel sticks when the computer is on at the same time as the 99. Restoring a patch set didn't help. My next step is to reinstall the usb driver but I am reluctant to experiment too much. Any suggestions? I haven't installed the new version update yet...should I do that first? Thanks!!

* Be sure you are using the Version 1.01 Editor / Librarian.
* If you are "connected" to the VG-99 - yes the Jog Wheel will seem to stick" - exit the VG-99 librarian and the VG-99 editor to clear this up.

Thanks for the reply. I do have the updated s.ware. And the jog wheel sticks even when the librarian & editor aren't open...just whenever the computer is on!

Dissconnect the USB if you are not using it for recording with the VG-99

On that note, I find that having the VG99's USB plugged in often hangs my computer on startup or standby. Took me ages to identify the Roland as the culprit. I really should have known better ;)

Hey Guys,
I went off on this topic on the other forum. The issue as I see it is with the USB driver when it is set in 'Advanced' mode. For me at least, when I have the USB driver set in 'Standard' mode, all is well. The 'Advanced' mode has a tendency to crash Guitar Rig 3 and Sonar. It locks up my soundcard and requires a reboot because the processes cannot be killed. To quote Rick James... I wish I had more hands, so I could give it more thumbs down.

later,
