Thanks for this most excellent forum! (my second post)

How well does the GR-55 work as a MIDI Controller like a keyboard would do inside of a DAW to control VST's, and etc.

Thanks!

Sorry, but none of that answers my question on how well / responsive the GR-55 works as a MIDI controller in comparison to a MIDI keyboard does with sound libraries inside of a DAW. Is the tracking able to handle Non Roland sounds or is the use of other non Roland Sounds a bit hit and miss. I haven't purchased a GR-55 yet and want to  learn how the unit works a bit better.  I would like to hear what experience you guys on the forum have doing this. I want to open my DAW, make a new MIDI Track and use my guitar has a MIDI controller and not use the Roland sounds.

the GR-55 is from 2011 - and is not the best tool today for Guitar to MIDI

If Guitar to MIDi is your high interest - in 2016 the top models I have used with lowest latency when using standard guitar technique are:

* Fishman Tripleplay (2013)

* Boss GP-10 (2014)

If you need faster tracking  /  lowest latency - and can deal with two hand tapping your notes into your DAW( avoid strumming)

the affordable You Rock Guitar Gen 2 with Radius Neck works well
