OK!

Inspired my an email from Bill Ruppert who was looking for a simple GKP-4 clone, introducing the QuadBoard GKP-4 clone, $79 plus $5 shipping (in the US). Available now.

full details:

http://www.joness.com/gr300/quadboard.htm

The unit has two potential users: people who just want a simple, no frills 1 input, 4 output Roland GKP-4 clone.

Or, the DIY do-it-yourself user. The unit is designed to make it easy to modify and expand with GK S1/S2 independent switching, mute outputs, and more. Potentially, the QuadBoard can be configured as a super Roland US-40. That is, one input, four outputs, with complete control over all GK parameters, including independent volume and mute controls.

Check out the website link for PCB layout details, schematics, and more. I tested the unit with a GK-3 guitar and a (RMC) Godin LGX-SA, along with the Boss GP-10, Roland GR-55, VG-99, GI-10 and the RC-1324-VR.

If you have any other questions, email me at my website address: wayne@joness.com

Thanks for having a look! Wayne

Very nice Wayne, as always.
You've also made a great web page and video for your product. I know how much time and effort these things take.
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

Congrats to you Wayne and your latest.  Nice looking board there.

I want one! What would it cost to get it to the Netherlands?

I can ship USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate box for $24.75.

I can also probably ship the unit first class, but I'll need to check on the size of the box.

Got my Quadboard here in the UK last Saturday. Thank you Wayne for shipping it out so promptly. Took 1 week to get over from the States. Total cost in sterling incl. shipping using PayPal was £ 58.29. Much cheaper than the silly prices old GKP-4's are going for on eBay. Nicely finished PCB and easily expandable. Going to mount it in my 19" rack so just need to find the best way in drilling accurate 16mm holes through a blank steel panel and deciding which switching options to go for.

Mine arrived as well.

I use a UniBit for the 13-pin connector holes. On my UniBit, the hole size is 5/8", or 16 mm:

Wow...that is a great idea. I don't know what kind of pot is in the M-Audio pedal, but I can imagine wiring that as an additional volume control.

If you can post photos, that would be great. I'm going to order one of those M-Audio pedals as well.

OK!

Following Nigel's lead, I drilled out a single space 19" rack panel for make a rack-mount GKP-4!

You're ahead of me!. I'm now trying to work out what other options to fit.

Need to sit down in a quite room with pen and paper and draw up how I'd like my GR-55, GR-33 and GP-10 interface - audio/midi to my rack. Sounds like a good project for the winter months. Will need to make up some "snakes" to connect the various units to the "mothership". If only there was a good source of cheap, reliable 13 way cables in the UK

I'll install my QuadBoard upside down in my M-Audio Blackbox Footswitch chassis - - I need the Gk Guitar input on the right rear so and I intend to relocate the Gk Input over to the far right  rear side of the chassis and use custom jacks for (the +/-7VDC Power Input source) on both GK Input (to power the guitar) and the GK Out#1 ( which powers the Quadboard)  using  hardwired  DIN13 metal female "chassis mount style" jacks (for the complete 360 degree ground contact surface area for for each Gk 13 cable plug) - to tame GK 13 cable vibration noise on bouncing mobile stages near a drum riser) and mount both on isolated ground dielectric nylon/ plastic panels using Gumbo's SL13JS SynthLynx Jacks and nylon screws/nuts c, to maintain isolation between Analog Ground and Chassis Earth Ground

and carefully verify my rig and pursue isolated Shells on the 13 pin GK Outputs #2,3,4   - to help tame ground loop noise  - which is the typical big problem for everyone using any 13 pin GK 4 port  parallel box.
But still thinking this through -

Now you need this to get large holes in a metal chassis quickly and safely

Use caution and use a Vise!

Well, I checked out the M-Audio pedal. I looks great, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to take it apart. I removed every exterior screw I could find, but the top did not want to release. I started to pull up the front, and noticed the metal was going to flex rather than move. So I stopped.

Unfortunately, I am back in classes right now, which has pretty much put a halt to any guitar synth stuff until after exams....Wayne

I have two M-Audio Blackbox Footswitch chassis - and hope to take one apart soon.
I believe the underside of the Top metalwork sides have an adhesive glue - so pry it apart carefully!
