Potential GP-10 user here, previously a VG8 and Variax user. Alt tunings are my thing. What (if any) are the limitations of the GP-10 when it comes to panning individual strings of an alt tune model? Looking at the parameter list it seems that most of the FX would and override any per-string pan settings. How about amp models? (My main requirement is to be able to send lower strings out to a bass amp and the rest to a guitar amp.)

On the Boss GP-10 you have complete access to  individual string panning for each string  when the modeling tones are used -even after  individual strings are set to different transpositions /Alt Tunings. its like a Variax in Stereo, but you may have to use other stereo FX to maintain stereo as most GP-10 Amp Modeling and FX are Are mono only

it's best to download Gumtowns GB-10 editor and review all available GP 10 effects options

it'll run without a GP 10 connected

Likewise the latest version of Boss Tone Studio for GP 10 can run "offline"
for anybody to review all GP-10 FX options pre-purchase

The amp models and a lot of the fx are mono
