i'm making a comparasion,
may Vg88 miss the:
Articulated, Synthetic, Resonator, Drawbar, Cavity and Complex?

Look at Vg88 manual page 36 and
look at Vg8   manual page 71.

They are very different boxes IMHO - explains why i own both VG-8EX and VG-88 ;)
If I had to choose one,  I prefer the wide array of sounds from VG-8EX best

i have got the Vg8 expanded,
and now i oderded a Vg88 V2.

I'm more interested to the synth sounds,
so if i good understand the Vg8/ex has more synths sounds thatn the Vg88 yes?

Re VG-8 "expanded" ( with the S1 update procedure) vs a true VG-8EX - they are close, but I much prefer a genuine 1998 VG-8EX  -its a bit more refined, less rice crispies,

the VG-88 in my opinon is  1 step forward, 3 steps back) VG-88 adding ability to use normal guitars) but it lost many of the VG-8EX best models  - no VIO guitar and the HRM models are very different

I bought a VG-88 today, regular version I think. I already have the VG-8 S1
Now I probably have the lesser versions of each machine but I'm hoping there's enough HRM variety to warrant it
Guitars: Parker, Kinman, Wilkinson, MJT
Amps: Fender SR, Ceriatone OTS
FX: Big Sky, Timefactor, Infinity, Lexicon etc
Hex: Roland VG-8 VG88, GR1, GRS, GRD, GI-10, GI-20, GKP-4
Synth: Roland MKB1000, MKS20, MKS30, XV2020 Kurzweil K1000, Kawai K5000S, Yamaha SY77, MU100, Korg Micro Preset

Hi, i'm happy for your purchase!

Yesterday night i watched the Vg99 Manual,
i'm not so sure but in therms od synth and original effects, i didn't saw an improvement,
i hope i'm wrong!

And yes the Vg8 has more synth effects. The reason why i'm interested in Vg is synth and possibility to have some effetcs in only 1 string, different tunuing, etc.

May we can try to play both Vg8 Vg88 togheter for create new sounds.

A question: On vg8, on the low E string, when you use alternate tuning or pitch sh**, do you hear a problem like a no stable or little slide?
I don'tknow if this is the subsonic problem.

Thanks fendrix, yeah I'm looking forward to doing some layering with these units for experimental and ambient
I picked up a GKP-4 splitter so I can run four units at once
I need to get four stereo volume pedals so I don't have the nightmare of trying to control it from the guitar
So it'll be VG8 + VG88 + GR1 + GI-20 (plus synth) into an 8 channel line mixer, then the Infinity looper
For a low budget rig it should be fun to experiment with for a while!
