So I'm thinking of finally pulling the trigger on the FTP. Should I wait till this release comes out or nab it with the NI software. I find all the NI software install and registration fiasco aggravating but will it be easier with E/W and will there be a big difference in the quality of the software in either or.

because i'm so impatient i went to the east west website today and it says "coming this month" on the homepage for EW for TP.
i'm sure you lot already knew that... but here is the link for anyone else that wants to drool... at a banner... am i really that sad? Yup!

not long now then!

I've a question:  East&West is a  Sampler that plays midi message received by FTP, why this plug in should not be used by different midi generator also (Roland GK system based or others) ?

Or these East&West plugins are strictly coded with FTP Software interface on PC/Mac ?

Bummer that it's still ... vaporware.  An early tease, with a late delivery.......  and no word to us on release date.

According to the Fishman folks I talk to a this past Winter NAMM, the pricing is going be pretty agreessive in terms of what you are going to get.  It looks like they are getting closer to launching this.  March is almost over!

Typically $299-$399 per package is typical for East-West Sample packages - I expect similar pricing

QuoteWhat exactly does that jibber-jabber mean?

It means they spent many hours working on sound libraries optimized for the Tripleplay

( Hammer Ons, Hammer offs, Legato playing,  separate MIDI channel per string for multi string bending, etc - issues which rarely manifest when using a typical MIDI Keyboard controller.

whippinpost91850

Kind of bummed... I just looked at the list and no SAXES ... which is what I am really looking for

Any update on the status? Been almost 4 months. :)

On their website (http://www.soundsonline.com/midi-guitar-series) they show the Midi guitar Series, Vol. 1 to Vol. 5.

Does that mean they will sell those packages separately, or they will bundle some or all?
Pretty sure, no one knows the answer for now, but just asking in case!

And, if any East-West guys read this forum, I will be first in line for a "good" bundle!

i understand Fishman  / East West intends to sell various different packages with different capabilities and different focus of instruments.

---
http://www.soundsonline.com/midi-guitar-series

These new EastWest MIDI Guitar Instruments, from producers Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix, differ from the current EastWest virtual instruments, which are optimized for keyboards, in that they have been selected and designed to take advantage of the complex and unique waveforms produced by a guitar's vibrating strings. These five titles cover a wide range of musical styles and instrument families.

"We have been testing MIDI guitar systems for years, and the Fishman TriplePlay Wireless MIDI Guitar Controller is the best in class," says EastWest producer Doug Rogers. "So EastWest and Fishman worked closely together, re-programming the instruments and making adjustments to the software specifically for the Fishman MIDI Guitar Controller. It all works incredibly well as you can hear in the video we produced. In fact, it opens up a whole new world for guitar players who have been grappling with decades-old technology. I know many of our users consider themselves to be guitar players first, so they will now be able to compose 'anything' using their preferred instrument, instead of a keyboard."

Fishman founder and president, Larry Fishman states, "The opportunity of collaborating with EastWest is very exciting for not only our two companies, but also for guitarists who are looking to explore new avenues of creativity and sound. EastWest virtual instruments are the choice of top music, film, TV, and gaming performers and composers. We worked with the EastWest team to expand the TriplePlay orbit of guitar-optimized, easily accessed and compatible virtual instruments that will build on the already formidable list of TriplePlay features and benefits."

I suspect the hangup is on the Fishman side. They will likely need to release an update to their software to be compatible with the new sound libraries. They have not updated the beta for the 64bit version of their software since they released it in December.

East-West new Midi Guitar synths will be available for purchase May 15, as per their website:
http://www.soundsonline.com/midi-guitar-series

You can also add your E-mail to their mailing list to be notified.

Looks like the release has been delayed again, the "available May 15" banner has been removed!  >:(

yep, looks like its delayed again, and with the advertised prices found before, $179 per set, my interest levels are waining.

If, as expected, these are sounds they already have (from existing sets) that they are repackaging to make more midi guitar friendly, they should have IMO made it a no brainer for everyone with tripleplay.

I've always been dumbfounded by Fishman's apparent lack of responsiveness and general support of the Triple Play. Few updates, Tripletalk is forever out of date, no real timely news or information. That has been frustrating because I thought the Triple play is such a great product with so much potential.

From what I've seen historically from them, the market for the Triple play must be a lot smaller than I would have thought. They don't seem to be able to dedicate many resources to it. The did have a representative who posted here regularly some time back, but before that there was next to nothing outside of a few initial how-to videos.

Unfortunately, I've seen the same thing from other music gear manufacturers: TC Electronic & their multi-effect devices; Roland/Boss and most of their products. The business model seems to be: Put out a product, maybe do one update years later (if that), but otherwise forget about it and move on to the next product.

You better be happy with how units work right out of the box because you can't count on any future updates or bug fixes from most companies.

Hello-

We apologize if you feel we are unresponsive. Fishman strives to answer support emails, calls, questions that come in via social media as well as this forum in a timely manner. We have made it a point to monitor this forum (as well as others), and also give you opportunities to make suggestions about Tripleplay, and features you would like to see going forward. I have personally taken note and conveyed these requests to our developers as they have come in. In addition to this, we also respond to other social media platforms as soon as possible. Please understand we have been working to upgrade documentation and media that will reflect the changes and upgrades in our upcoming v1.4 release. These things unfortunately take time, and mostly happen "behind the scenes". We sincerely appreciate your patience while this takes place. Hopefully you will be satisfied with the many bug fixes, and upgrades that we will offer going forward.

Very Best,

Sara

My opinion is that the East-West sounds won't be released until after the FTP software update 1.4 is released. Hopefully, soon!

Finally, the East-West "teaser" package is here!
https://www.fishman.com/support/tripleplay-downloads/

The EastWest MIDI Guitar Instruments Teaser Pack is available for free to all TriplePlay users. Use the link below to create an account with EastWest and install the EW Play Engine plugin with free sounds specifically created and programmed for TriplePlay.

I didn't install it yet, but I will... as soon as my computer is fully running (had a major bug 2 days ago, and have to re-install most of my software  :( )

But at least I have something to tease me in speeding up the re-install process  :)

Sara,

I have TP 1.4 beta installed.  So is there anything I should do when updating to the new released v1.4 other than run the installer?  Will I have to update firmware again?
