I'll only be able to attend one day - but what a line-up!

I'll be attending as "PA Roadie" with the sound company this Sunday - (Cambria is a 35 minute drive north of me )

Ive met Joe a few times before at NAMM shows  - but this should be a more relaxed setting. Of course I'll inform all I meet about VGuitarforums - maybe a few will join us here.

An interesting week for sure, as the following weekend  my Surf band is playing 4th of July festival in Morro Bay Noon to 1:30pm

Very cool.  I thought about attending that thing but it cost a fortune and finding the time would have been difficult.  What was it like?  How many attendees were there?

It seems like it would have been cool.  I've met Mike Keneally before - cool guy and great player.

Around 100+ people are participating this week at the G4 Experience ( still in progress till thursday )

All principals ( Joe Satriani/Tosin Abasi/Guthrie Govan/Mike Keneally) were supreme gentleman, I unloaded the main PA truck and helped run cables and debug the soundcheck, met their road crew and hung out for the opening night concert last night where all the principals played. A good friend Kip Stork is embarking on a 2 month tour as sound man for Guthrie Govan & AristoCrats

Doug Doppler was doing double duty filming the event , he's a very bright guy who runs Geartunes - and most know him from YouTube demos

Frankly when I informed folks about VGuitarforums ( I had a Godin and Boss GP-10, and Antares ATG-1 in my car, and prepared to give demos)  the general response was:

"That gear is far too complicated and gets in the way of my creativity while playing"

It was best not to distract attendees from the official schedule of well organized events

I find that unfathomable.  Sounds like an excuse more than a valid argument.

There remain many barriers among pros for the tools we speak of.

Tosin Abasi did have a recent Fractal Axe-FX and his 8 string guitar - but among the folks I met, I experienced a universal "non-interest" in the gear we talk about.

My experience was rather like asking the local Mac User Group if they wanted to schedule a hands on demo of this:

I just saw the Aristocrats at Slim's in San Francisco on Tuesday.  That trio had a ton of fun onstage.  Great show.

Holy smokes Govan is original...  In technique, tonality...  It was inspiring.

Those guys make it look fun, but are some seriously amazing musicians!

On 7/7/15, I saw the Aristocrats & took pix of Guthrie Govan's gear.  A bit different from the above, so there is a certain amount of variance I guess depending on the music/band.   Sorry for the poor pic quality...
