Probably a tough question to Bass gear fans, but...
Any thoughts on what a VB-99 is worth, 'market' value, OR what would you be willing to pay for one?

Thanks,
Trouble is every time I go on eBay for a VB-99 there's 0, NADA; These examples you posted, -gone today
I guess they're moving very quickly when listed.  Just haven't lucked out yet.
That's why I asked in the forum!

The VB-99 is far far more rare than the VG-99, and those who already own one today are not selling, since nothing else exists for 13 pin bass players that provides the VB-99's  Dual low latency DSP Modeling signal paths

Suggest search Ebay / craigslist for  VB-99 daily if you want one.

I've been wondering, is it possible to "factory reset" a VG-99 with the VB-99 firmware, essentially making it a VB-99?

hmmm....? ???

Elantric

no - there is a locked boot loader in the ROM

Not totally sure but the VB came out a couple of years after the VG , so there's probably different chips in there....  ???

And BTW , i've been looking for a 2nd one too for a while without luck.

I'm sur that I would be able to have what I paid for if I would sell mine....   :D

The product most similar to (and therefore most able to substitute for) a Roland VB-99 is a Roland V-Bass.

Here's one currently located in Poland for US $327.44 opening bid or US $383.14 BIN plus shipping: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Roland-V-Bass-COSM-not-VB-99-/331373543040?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_212&hash=item4d2766fe80 .

Completed auctions: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40|R40&_nkw=Roland+V-Bass&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&LH_Complete=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_ftrt=901&_ftrv=1&_sabdlo=&_sabdhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=&_sargn=-1%26saslc%3D1&_salic=1&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=200.

Considering that some of these have sold for as low as $219, $249 and $300 (although some have sold for much more), it is a VB-99 substitute worth considering. I have one and it sounds pretty good.  I seem to recall that the acoustic bass model presets of the V-Bass, right out of the box, impressed me much more than the VB-99's out-of-the-box presets - which was the main reason for buying them. (I do not feel capable of giving any more of an evaluation or comparison because I have not played either all that much and neither in a very long time.)

(Having posted this I shortly thereafter noted that there is already a thread about VB-99 vs V-Bass, rendering this reply more or less redundant and superfluous. Gonna leave it here though.)
