Hi everyone!
I m looking for some really light weight guitars and find ibanez S series to
be good enough.
Are there any other brands that build guitars as light as the S series?
The guitar need not have the best pups as I use all the modeling from my GR55.

Going light is necessary for me since i have just recovered back from a back injury
Guitars: Ibanez Prestige S5470, Ibanez Jem 7v, Ibanez JS2410, PRS SE Custom24, Cort  Ltd G16, Ibanez RG370Ahmz,
MultiFX: Roland GR55, Zoom 1on, BOSS GT00
Loopers: Digitech trio+, Line 6 JM4
MIDI:, MAudio Axiom24 keyboard, Alesis IO Dock with iPad air 2

This is one of the reasons I love my Parker Fly, super light.

Don't know how much you're willing to spend...  Off & on, I've been drooling over one of these.  I've played it in-store a couple of times.   I'm not a big fan of Gibson after my Darkfire experience, but this is a beautiful & light guitar, designed from the ground up for ergonomics...

Not sure if the Floyd Rose & PU ring give you room for a GK3?

http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-Custom/Les-Paul-Axcess-Standard/Features.aspx

QuoteBody and Neck

Encounter the clever structural alteration that gives this new model its name by taking the instrument in your hands and running your fingers up the neck. The Axcess sports what looks from the front to be a traditional Les Paul neck joint, yet the neck heel and portions of the back and neck joint at the upper cutaway have been contoured to provide a "heelless" feel, and an unimpeded reach right up to the 22nd fret. No more stretching against the traditional neck heel to achieve the upper-fret access that your lead style demands — the Axcess gives you that legendary Les Paul playability all the way up the neck, welcoming you to take it right over the top. The one-piece, 24 3/4" scale length, mahogany neck features a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid fingerboard inlays.

To further enhance playing comfort, this smoothly carved neck joint is combined with a "belly scarf" (aka ribcage contour) that allows the body of the guitar to hug closely to your own body in the playing position without digging in. Add to these contours the Les Paul Axcess's slightly thinner body, made from weight-relieved mahogany – with a carved maple top available in Iced Tea Burst or Gun Metal Gray finishes and single-ply cream binding on body top – and you've got an instrument that is refreshingly light, and a pure joy to play either strapped on, or in a seated position.
Address the process rather than the outcome.  Then, the outcome becomes more likely.   - Fripp

I have a Yamaha RGX-A2 - http://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical-instruments/guitars-basses/el-guitars/rgxa2/?mode=series - at 2.5kg, it is very light indeed for a full bodied instrument.  No longer in production, they turn up on eBay, etc. fairly regularly.

I switched to Parker Fly's unrefined versions got two and at 4.25 lbs I think they're the lightest .Both have Gk-3's mounted..I have a basswood/popular and mahogany which is quite a bit warming sounding.I double chord both of them guitar goes into a Pod hd500 and 13 pin into a Gr-55.I use these for my more experimental music!! If I'm playing more roots rock I still prefer my Gibson,Gretsches and Fenders ,SG's are quite light..

Those r all beautiful guitars, however its very hard to find parkers here in india. .
That Gibson with a floyd must be a killer however its way too expensive..
With limited choice available in my country I have ordered an IBANEZ S420 blackberry burst
color which is around the 500 dollars mark. I love to have an allround guitar that has 24 frets and a floyd rose (this one has the zero tremelo which is very nice). If I gel with this model, I would probably upgrade
to an S series prestige or even an IBANEZ HERMAN LI EGEN18..But one day I hope to own Parkers
as they are preferred to prs Maryland guitars by some! !..
I wish Yamaha had travel electric guitars just like my Yamaha acoustic silent guitar 110S

Another vote for the "unrefined" (i.e. original) Parker Fly.  Best lightweight shredder money can buy IMO.  Although, on a feature-for-dollar basis it is hard to beat Ibanez.

In terms of bang for your buck, Godin can't be beat, and many of their guitars are chambered.  Moving up in price, the USA built G&L's are great, and they also have a number of chambered body guitars.

I just this morning finished a repair on a Parker Nitefly. Almost no weight to it and very good sounding and playing. Quite impressive.

Another thumbs up here for Parkers.

a really balanced light weight guitar, BUT: pickup selector is is a turn around switch, the only uncomfortable detail on this nice guitars. And one might have some problems installing anything on the top because AIR (constructional concept) is based on a hollow body ...

there are cheaper licensed Ministar copies by Thomann/Germany (around 130 Euro). I ordered one a month ago ... sound is amazing, the construction doesn't really look like a longtime use candidad though, and the build in preamp is placed at the backside with all its plugs and controlls, quite a brainless way to place such things ...

I enjoy looking at it, nice guitars over there

I recently acquired an ibanez egen8. At 6 lbs, 10 pup selector options and a beautiful platinum blonde finish, this is the lightest guitar I own and very versatile at a bang for buck.

PRS Mira X and Starla X guitars are very light.

The new stupid-limited-edition (1,000 units total) Empress Telecaster from Fender is allegedly ridiculously light.

I know Dean was making some of their bodies out of paulownia a few years ago. They were extremely light.

The line6 variax 300 is amazingly light. I know that they aren't in production anymore but you can pick them up cheap on ebay.
Also don't need the GK3 as they already have the piezo's.

Hey
I don't have back problems but a very heavy double neck (triple really)
this shoulder strap helps enormously
my super heavy guitar feels like it's made from balsa wood
it can take a bit of adjusting the balancing points on the guitar

Another strap that helps with weight is the stretch strap that Dimarzio sells. I've been using these for a long time.

http://www.guitarcenter.com/DiMarzio-Elastic-Guitar-Strap-364672-i1130479.gc?source=4WWRWXGP&gclid=CIPP4K7Njb4CFaZm7Aodvi4AeA&kwid=productads-plaid^49892344499-sku^364672@ADL4GC-adType^PLA-device^c-adid^27123799842

Levy's makes a similar strap, the "No. 1 stretch strap". I have not personally tried it, but have read many positive reviews.

As for lightweight guitars, the Parker Fly I had was probably the lightest I have ever owned, but I never really bonded with the neck. I have a spare RR strat pickguard that I am considering installing on a Fender Stratacoustic that I picked up for $20 because the top is cracked. If it works out that will be very light.

Heres a lightweight guitar.
Paulownia body,Allparts neck,Suhr pups and GK-3.
It weighs about 6 pounds.
Body is from Guitar Fetish.
I like it for long sets and a change from my RR Strat on occasion.

Here is one of the lightest guitars I've ever held. It's an early Godin Acousticaster.

Interesting!  I'm reminded of the Bond Electraglide, which I imagine you've seen before?  I think it's an English design from the 80's; never took off obviously.  I have a friend with a very eclectic guitar collection and he has one (possibly two) of these in his basement.
