At 2013 NAMM, I overheard the Digitech product manager stating by summer 2013, the whole Jamman line will be refreshed - adding the  "JamSync" I/O across the entire line- so multiple JamMan pedals can be cascaded and remain in sync.

If this sounds important to you, Might want to mark your calender and sell your existing JamMan during Spring 2013, since new refreshed versions of ALL JamMan pedals with  "JamSync" I/O  will make their appearance by Summer 2013 NAMM.

So if I read this correctly you can gang multiple of the same pedals together and make them function essentially as one?  This could be a stunning development (going to watch the video shortly).

GK Devices:  Roland VG-99, Boss GP-10, Boss SY-1000.

Yup. You can chain as many of these little guys together as you want. Used I've seen them sell for $100 a pop already, so they present an affordable, small, and flexible option.

But, once again, DigiTech baffles me with their hatred towards Midi.

DigiTech, U Y NO MIDI SYNC!?!

They developed an entire new I/O when they could have given me the ability to chain infinite pedals AND the ability to beat-sync to effects and drum machines? For shame. GAS killer.

Rundown on all Jamman products, hint of across the line updates due summer 2013, and live performance with three JamMan Solo XT's all "JamSync'ed" together.

Since available floorspace for my live FX rig is always at a premium, I recently acquired a Digitech  Jamman Solo XT.

There is more to this pedal than meets the initial casual look over. Worth reading the Jamman Solo XT user manual

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – HARMAN's DigiTech today announced the JamMan Solo XT compact looper pedal will be more affordable than ever being offered at a new street price of $149.95. Since its introduction, the JamMan Solo XT has proven to be an invaluable tool for musicians around the world and quickly became one of the industry's top choices in looping pedals.

The JamMan Solo XT offers users the ability to store over 35 minutes of CD-quality loops in 200 internal memories and also features a micro SDHC card slot that allows players to store an additional 16 hours of audio in 200 loops. For multi-track looping a guitarist can link together multiple JamMan Solo XTs through an innovative pedal-linking capability called JamSync. Also, the pedal's auto record functionality will pick the timing of the start and stop of a section depending on the music played.

"DigiTech Loopers are powerful tools artists can use in many different and creative ways. They can be used for practicing solos, learning a song, and writing new songs. Looping allows musicians to add another dynamic element to their performances making it more powerful and engaging." commented Scott Klimt, marketing manager, DigiTech. "DigiTech invented looping pedals. We want to every musician to have a DigiTech looper in their set-up so they experience the benefits of looping as well as take advantage of the extended functionality of JamSync in DigiTech JamMan loopers. Some incredible things are possible when you can begin looping with others."

Additionally, the JamMan Solo XT looper is built within a rugged metal chassis and features hands-free functionality, time signatures, as well as the ability to slow down or speed up any loop without changing the pitch. Powered by DigiTech's free JamManager, any player can organize and save loops to a PC or Mac for fast recall at anytime.

Effective immediately, the JamMan Solo XT will be offered at a street price of $149.95.

Have you tested more than one linked up?  It is certainly an attractive idea.

Elantric

So far I only own just one

but it works very well for my needs - even better with the optional FS3X three button pedal

I'll go over the manual as you suggest when I have a chance.

The optional external three button foot switch option really opens up better control for live use - along with the expandable "Jam Sync" - i can cascade several for more creative uses.

and micro SD card and and the LED display provides a lot more creative possibilities.

Matt Calder and Jeremy Whitesides demo the new JamSync features of DigiTech's JamMan Solo XT. JamSync allows them to create independent loops on their individual JamMan Solo XT pedals, yet they are in perfect time with each other. The song they are playing is one of their original tunes called Stitched Up Tight

Am about to pull the trigger on one of these online , no way to try it out and I can't make out from the manual but anyone know if a specific tempo can be set on a new loop?

The Amazon user comments say it is set by tapping the tempo button , the manual mentions pressing the up down buttons to initialize to 120 but doesn't specifically say that an exact tempo can be set which is what I need.

Appreciate anyone's experience on this

Elantric, do you also own the RC-3?

I am in doubt whether to get the Jamman XT or the RC-3, both seem pretty good.

Thanks!

I have a DigiTech SDRUM with both beat and pitch detection, a Digitech TimeBender with beat detection, and a DigiTech Trio+ with beat detection.

I've never tried the following but as per Tom Von Kramm:

The Harman Canada Engineers who developed the SDRUM also clandestinely included the ability to sync MIDI devices to the SDRUM via the JamSync connector. The SDRUM must be the master since it only sends these MIDI commands. This is not considered an official feature since it was initially included for internal use/testing/future dev only. It requires a custom cable to be made that follows the wiring below:

I also have DigiTech JamMan Express XT and it too has JamSync.  Any of the DigiTech devices with JamSync can talk to each other.  Whether any of this serves anyone's interest here I cannot say, but I do like JamSync and it's a shame DigiTech bit the dust, even though TRS / MIDI lives on in various devices.

My point
Build the 5pin DIN adapter cable

See if JamMan XT can follow the Sync from third party source of MIDI CLOCK.

- seems minor interface is required

The Jam Man solo XT is something I got late last year, used as a backup device in my gig case.
