Bandhelper can import your entire SLM database, so you don't have to rebuild everything from scratch.  However, you do have to reload your documents and recordings.  It is easy if you upload them in a zip file into the Bandhelper interface.  Just be sure you retain the same filenames as you were using in SLM.  I'd recommend starting with just a few initially to make sure everything transfers over correctly.  I ran into a few problems because some of my file name had illegal characters (such as <>) that were a carry over from the days when I was trying another App called Music Binder.  But except for that it is working.  I am planing to do a number of dry runs through all of my material at home before I attempt to use it live.

By the way, I returned the iRig MIDI 2 that I bought.  It "does" work with the GR-55 and SLM, but it is not a good design for live use.  It would be okay for sitting on a table top connected to a computer or keyboard, but the cable they supply with it is very short, so I had to use an USB extension cable plus the mini DIN connector fits very loose into the iRig and it fell out in the middle of one of my songs.  I recovered gracefully and I'm sure no one noticed except me.  So, now I am back to using the Apple camera connection kit and the cheap Meritline MIDI cable which work just hunky dory.

Good luck!

I had the same experience as chatzog with the iRig MIDI 1.  Fell out of the iPad in the middle of a song; the weight of the cable is what caused the problem.  My inelegant on-the-spot solution was to tape the cable to the mic stand so that it didn't dangle.  The CCK works much better.

I am trying to use SLM to change patches in Yonac's Tone Stack.  I can only seem to get it to work randomly, and then only by pressing the midi button from inside a song.  I want to have the patch in Tone Stack activated as soon as the song is selected.

I have tried setting up the midi port for the presets as a network session and as Tone Stack (as well as leaving the port blank).

I've been able to get all of the CC's to work fine, but the PC messages don't seem to work consistently.

Anyone have advice on this?

So after setting up Set List Maker with my regular bands song list of around 300 plus tunes the band leader used setlists for about 2.5 gigs before going back to audibles and doing it the way he has done it for 20 years or so. I responded by using my IPad for Onsong lyrics and using the S1/S2 buttons on my GK pups and the footswitches on my GT10 to navigate patch changes on my GR55/GT10. PITA! but I got through a bunch of gigs large and small that way.

During my little Christmas break I began to to think about ways to still use my Set List Maker app.
I had also finally taken delivery of my Midi Solutions splitter box.
I made a genre list

Acoustic
Jazz
Rock
Funk
Blues/Rock etc...

I made a show with songs named as the different genres
I assigned midi channel 1 program changes ro the GR55
I assigned midi channel 2 program changes to the GT10

tested perfect
in fact this may work better for me and may be even faster than searching for a song title in SLM.

I play in sometimes 4 or 5 different bands during the week
this will definitely be helpful

I will try it tonite in a 100 seat club in the artsy part of town .

GR55/GT10/IPad running SLM/ Talk Box and my Roland KC300 amp.

we shall see how it goes.

Quotedoes [SetlistMaker for IOS] work with the Boss GP-10?
Yes, after you add a $45 Raspberry Pi between GP-10 and ipad+CCK

Elantric - I know you've talked about doing some MIDI stuff with the Rasberry Pi before, but can you explain the function that you referenced above? I don't want to hijack this thread, but I'm trying to figure out the best way to use my HD500 to trigger multiple patch changes to different devices like my Strymon Big Sky and Eventide H9 given that I change my set lists(and patch order) in the HD500 every week that I play(in a P&W setting). I've given SLT a cursory look, but haven't delved into the details.

The Raspberry Pi embedded Linux Computer performs USB to MIDI I/O chores specifically for the Boss GP-10, and GT-001  - which both lack 5pin MIDI I/O and are not USB Class Compliant "MIDI over USB"

This is because the Raspberry Pi embedded Linux Computer includes "Jack Audio/MIDI" for Linux" code - and years ago the development team for JACK Audio tweaked the code to be compatible with Roland USB devices which typically require a factory Roland USB Driver for Windows/ Mac OSX before they work

Jack Audio in Linux is the secret that "talks to the Boss GP-10 over USB"  without the need for the official factory Roland /Boss USB driver code.

The Raspberry Pi or iConnectMIDI 4+, plus a couple generic USB to MIDI Class Compliant cables can do what you seek

Thanks, I'll dig into this.

I ran across a few ideas for getting Set List Maker, working in conjunction with a computer, using just one monitor and I was wondering if anybody's explored this already. I'm looking at Android for the first time since they've added a Set List Maker app and there seem to be a couple of potentially viable options.

First there's the monitors with built in Android support such as...

http://www.viewsonic.com/us/monitors/smart-displays/vsd221.html

or

http://us.aoc.com/all-in-one/a2272pw4t

I'm not really sure about these as a solution. They don't seem like they've been successful enough to ensure continued support from the manufacturers in the way of software upgrades etc. and it also seems less than ideal to have to switch between displaying the Android OS or the external computer using the device as a monitor.

The second possibility, that I've noticed, would be to use an emulator such as BlueStacks or Andy and run Set List Maker from there. I'm just unsure of how well MIDI cc and pc commands could be output to your DAW or pedals like the GP-10.

Of course I could just use more than one tablet to gain Set List Makers functions but I'd rather not if I can avoid it.

Incidentally, I just received this email from Arlo:

Hi folks,

Apple just announced the long-awaited iPad Pro, an iPad with a larger 12.9" screen. This will be a great option for using BandHelper on stage. With custom layouts, you can use the extra screen space for more buttons and info, or just make your existing buttons and info bigger.

I'm releasing some new features of my own in a big update later this month. I've already posted a demo video and release notes, plus some additional tips and warnings, at this forum post:

http://forum.arlomedia.com/index.php/topic,1051.0.html

I encourage you to check this out before the release, to avoid any surprises, and to make sure you don't miss any new features that will help you and your band.

Thanks for being a subscriber!

Hi guys i recently purchased the irig blueboard and although it works as a song selector on setlist maker, i still want to unlock all the possible controls of the irig blueboard's potential with setlist maker.  Also, does anyone know how to set the blueboard so thati it switches thru the different midi oresets for a song? I badly need this for a wedding on saturday. Will be acting up as the guitar player cello player and saxophone player with just my roland gr-55. Thanks guys!

2nd half of video below has an excellent demonstration of SetlistMaker changing GR-55 tones as well

Help, Can you have 2 separate Blue tooth devices set up on an iPad one to receive info and one to send info???

Elantric

depends on the app  - MIDI Designer supports separate Bluetooth MIDI devices

I have a (QuiccoSound mi.1) on my Kemper and want to hook up an AirTurn pedal to flip songs in Set List Manager

I read all the posts and was excited to implement MIDI control between the GR55 and Set List Maker. I connected the iPad to the GR-55 and got it to work perfectly, but when I was going to connected to my normal setup I realized that I'm using the midi in the GR-55 for my DIY MIDI pedal. What would be the best way to do it so I can connect iPAD and the MIDI pedal to the GR-55.
