I was looking in the latest Guitar World (with Pink Floyd on the cover) and there's an article about Lindsay Buckingham's recent solo tour and there's a photograph of his set list and prominently listed adjacent to a particular piece is "VG-99 Capo @ 4th fret".

Food for thought.....

GK Devices:  Roland VG-99, Boss GP-10, Boss SY-1000.

Eagle eyes!!! Great catch. Wonder if that means use VG99 and a physical capo or use the VG99 to transpose as if there was a capo at the 4th fret and play without a capo whereas without the VG99 you would need a capo... Hmm..

well, i'm still waiting on part 2 of your Tulsa report.

but ok, let me see before my son takes the magazine away from me:

LB's (Lindsay Buckingham's ) SWS (Seeds we Sow)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seeds_We_Sow
setlist (from NYC last fall, not that it was ever any different during this tour but authors may not know that) is featured in the monthly article called tune-ups -> the setlist

there's a scan of SWS setlist in the middle of the page, with some markings on it that say this:

Lindsey Solo Acoustic
Shut us down - LB
Go insane - LB
Trouble - LB
Never going back - LB
Big love - LB

Ensemble
Under the skin - Taylor capo 3rd
Sorrows - HSS
In our own time - VG 99 capo on 4th
Illumination - HSS
Second hand news - Taylor from g capo 2nd
Tusk - HSS
Stars - Tobaco strat capo 3rd
End of time - G+L 1/2 stepdown
The way love goes - GL 1/2 stepdown
So afraid - HSS
Go your own way - 12 capo 5th

Encore
Turn it on - HSS
Treason - capo 3rd VG99
Seeds - taped over text

there are several boxes with descriptions and arrows towards certain songs in the setlist:

Turner Renaissance box - he says he has many turners - electric and acoustics on the road b/c of different tunings and/or different gauge strings. talks about lowering the key to GYOW but still wanting to play it the same as an example... and also that some gear might go down at some point so need a back up.

SUD box - talking about starting w/ solo acoustic set - like opening for himself.

UTS box - strum-fest w/ 3 guitars and no bass. same with AMS. both presented as folk, not rock, slowly seguing from acoustic to fully rocking set part.

NGBA box - he stretched it out lately, there's more drama. this song was a victim of FM (Fleetwood Mac) politics - Mick and John insisted to play on it even though it's not that kind of a song - so it suffered. it's a solo piece.

Tusk box - figured by that point audience has been good and listened to some new songs so time to give them what they came for, so grabbing them with SHN first and then go all out raunchy on Tusk.

GYOW box - this has been ending song for both FM (Fleetwood Mac) and solo, there's really nowhere to go from there but exit the stage.

that's it. not exact words, but close. there's a tiny photo too.

Interesting article for sure.

Neale Heywood (guitarist w Lindsey Buckingham's solo band, as well as Fleetwood Mac) is a friend & associate of mine. I know he was using a Roland VG99 on a couple tunes with FM. Last time we hung out we were talking about the Axe FX and other goodies. I'll have to find out if he's put the AFXII & Kemper through their paces. I'm thinking if their guitar tech has, it means they have too.

Last week, Jason took a trip down to Napa's Uptown Theatre to hang out with Neale Heywood and Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac). Lindsey is touring in support of his new album Seeds We Sow. Jason was also there to deliver a new Schroeder guitar to Neale. Look for this guitar on the European leg of Lindsey's tour starting in a couple of weeks.
We are very excited to introduce the new Seville model...

I was thinking Schroed-o-caster! LOL

Neale uses a Roland (VG-99) unit and needed the GK-KIT installed. So the Roland pickup is between the bridge and the bridge PUP. The two buttons above the 5-way toggle the Roland patches up and down. The mini switch between the bottom two knobs is to switch between Roland and magnetic PUPs (the middle position blends the Roland with magnetic pickups. The magnetic pickups have a master tone, master volume and 5 way. There is also an LED that lights up to indicate that the Roland is plugged in. The Roland connects to the guitar via a separate 13 pin jack. The magnetic pickups use a standard 1/4" jack. Both jacks are located on the side of the guitar.

Great reviews and feedback from Mr. Heywood so far! I will post some of his recent texts when I get time.
