I bought this at Harbor Freight tonight on sale for $24.99 (normally $29.99).

http://www.harborfreight.com/18-x-13-x-6-aluminum-case-69315.html

The foam inside is (semi) pre-cut into cubes which you can remove. After removing all of the cubes for the GR-55 to fit, the side walls wanted to collapse. The GR-55 also sat lower than it needed to be.....I wanted the foam attached to the cover to snugly press down on top of the GR to keep it from moving.

I solved both problems by  taking the remaining foam (the part I removed from the middle) and separated about seven pieces (each two cubes wide) and then turned them 90 degrees sideways and laid them down left to right in the case. This created  a raised floor for the GR to sit and also kept the four walls from collapsing.  Success!   :)

I can put the power cord in the top and the GK cable on top of the GR toward the front. I will probably wrap the cable in one layer of bubble wrap when I store it to keep the cord ends from scratching the top of the GR-55

I'm happy!

Thanks for the info, hcarlh. ;)

I have the same case without the foam bits (I linked to the wrong one in another thread). :)

Here on the west coast USA "harbor frieght is the local source for imported asian tools.

http://www.harborfreight.com/18-inch-x-12-3-4-quarter-inch-x-6-inch-aluminum-case-39196.html

I'm a member of their "Insiders Club" ,and if you know a friend who is a member of the AAA ( Auto Club), their WestWays magazine often has a Harbor Frieght 20% off coupon.

Its hit or miss, some of their stuff is great, some fall apart after 4 uses - but this case looks like a good deal,
and a good fit for the GR-55.

Theres a Container Store locally, and they havev some tough padded ABS cases that I think would make a good fit.  Will report back on it this weekend.

Would that work for a VG-99 as well?  Or is it a little too small?

I re-purposed a cheap Rondo pedal case. Nice thing about them is the tops lift off, you leave the pedals in the bottom of the case which is very thin. Had to heavily pad the case with foam to keep the comparatively small GR-55 from sliding around. Note the Rondo cases are really cheap and not particularly good. This one came with the used GT-10B I purchased which is the only reason I have it. If I end up using the GR-55 exclusively I'll buy a gig bag that has a big enough pocket to fit it for a 1-tote rig I can run direct to the PA.

paults

the GR is a little bigger than the VG, so it should work for it, too.

Great fit. Is this a camera shop?

It's a tool/hardware store with a decent inventory....at least around here.

I wish I had known about the AAA coupons as I am a member. I never read that magazine they send out.   :(
I will now.

I've got that same case that Fits my FCB1010 perfect... Flimsy at best... ok for carrying / storing something... but not protecting it treat them for what they are and they are OK.

I don't see using the GR55 Exclusively... there are just not enough controls exposed to the feet. I'm going to keep using my Digitech as a preamp  + Controller for a while at least until I get comfortable. Too bad the Rocktron All Access isn't cheap.. that and the GR-55 would make a nice stand alone pair.

The GR55 would have been amazing if they had given it the same control layout of hte GT-10 (Bank up/down + 1-2-3-4-CTL1-CT2) As it is it needs another controller.... or I need to get used to the limited controls. I like having names in addition to numbers for patches so that I can keep up we've got 100+ songs and rarely the same set list. Back before I was doing synth  it was easy to keep up with as I only used maybe 6-8 patches all night long. Since the synth I've got at least 25-30 for the average show and I see that growing with the additional functionality of the GR-55 over the GR-20.

If I make a pedal board for the Control2 foot controller and the GR-55 I'm looking at a 40"x15" footprint... about the size of a Strat case. Rondo sells the PDC410H with that footprint for only $59 (+ their rather high shipping cost...) wich is about what the hardware for making my own will cost.

My laptop bag coincidentally fits the GR-55 PERFECT and gives me several pockets for cables and powersupply... I'll use it until I figure out my long term plans.

Got this GR55 case on EBay for $39.95 including shipping. Looks like many others....works great, no mods other than to remove a 1/2" sheet of foam.

Have you seen the JML2?  It has only 4 stomp switches, but it looks more complete!  This one (the looper/delay) only has a stereo input and output, the USB and SD card slot, while it´s middle brother has XLR input, stereo (1/4) input and output, Rhythm out, headphone out and AUX in!!

Can someone clear this up for me? I´m planning on buying one...

I have the Jamman Stereo, it works in well with the GR-55 and has more I/O flexibility. I decided on this one as opposed to the Looper/Delay for this reason, and also the fact that I didn't need the delay function.  ;)

I'm in the same boat.  Don't know why the bigger one doesn't have that capability...

GuitarDojo

Yes. The Stereo has more I/O and I dont know why they didnt do the same with Delay.
Probably will switch to the Stereo for my use. Its closer to the Line 6 JM4 that I have been using for a over a year now.

I'm carrying my GR-55 in a Wenger padded backpack designed to hold a 15.6" laptop.
If it can keep the laptop safe, the pedal should be fine.

Interesting, thanks. :)

Do the "other bits & pieces" (power adaptor, 13-pin lead...) go into a separate compartment?

Just picked up that case today. On sale even though it didn't show it on the shelf. 24.00 bucks out the door. Took about 10 minutes to fix it the way I want. I feel better having it sit in that case.
