Flo26 posted a demo over at Audiobus forum. It sounds pretty darned good.

After using BIAS for a while - my first impression of the  Yonac ToneStack's presets and amp sounds were that many of the presets seem a bit narrow bandwdth with midrange frequencies only - but soon realized I could modify these with acceptable results, and having one integrated app that lets me change mic distance while still maintaining my stereo FX enabled and active raised the bar in productivity for patch creation -  compared to the BIAS + JamUpProXT combo "back & forth" dance I've been doing all year.

SLICK

So I tried the 'basic' version of this last night.
Using an iPad Air with IK iRig Pro and Parker fly guitar.

Initial impressions are pretty good.
I would say that it will definitely 'do the job'. Personal tastes will vary but here are some more comments points;

Interface
A little confusing for me. I kept trying to scroll the effects in the bottom row insted of using the scroll bar underneath.
Also adding effects is odd to start with as unlike Jamup you are not replacing an item so it's easy to get into a situation where you have 3 amp heads and 4 different speaker cabs all in a random order. I suspect I'll get used to that.
I found Adjusting the input / output settings tricky and finicky there seems to be hardly any travel between too quiet to make out and tipping the red. A jog button would have been handy to knock the level up or down 1 notch at a time.

Features
Everything seems to be in order here. Loads of FX , amps to choose from and the tape deck / recorder look very functional too.
Being able to set parallel paths is a BIG advantage and will open up a whole new horizon for sound creation. I loved this feature when I first got a Boss GT 10 and am very happy to see it on an iOS app.
The second USP as far as I can tell is the number and position of the effects blocks is almost 'unlimited'. Being able to have 10 delays in a row may not be very useful (although it was fun)  but no other app that I know of can touch this for sheer flexability.

Sound
Here I was just a little disappointed. I think I've been spoiled with Bias and Jamup but to my uneducated ears the Amps in Tonestack are not as real, deep, full, detailed, whatever description you want to apply in the end I didn't enjoy playing them as much as I do the Jamup / Bias ones.
May be some of the amps available for purchase may be more my taste.
The effects sound very nice and there are a lot of them! unfortunately none of the OD/ Dist Boxes tickled my fancy but the others all did and sounded like I would expect. the Tape delay is especially fun as was the Octave pedal.
The pitch shifting in this thing is second to none. I have been a big fan of Whammy / Octave harmony FX for ever and this app has the best octave pedal available for iOS.
Polyphonic and tracks extremely well. And that's just the octave pedal not even the £5 EHX POG 2 simulator that I will be buying as soon as I make up my mind to get the motherload.
Really very impressive I couldn't fault it. It's as good at polyphonic tracking as my POG 2 (set to 1 or 2 octave down)

I would say that I could live with this instead of Jamup and Bias as I think the effects lend themself to more experimental off the wall sounds or at least the app its self give you more scope for this kind of tone building.

But really for the price of entry why would you not have both ;)

SLICK, I think all of your points are spot-on.  As for tone, I think ToneStack is quite good, but when I switch back to JamUp/Bias there's no question that it's better, especially for high-gain amps.  Tons of detail and high-end, e.g. in the Mesa Mk IIc+ model.  But ToneStack is cool in that it's so flexible, a bit more like working with Guitar Rig on Mac/PC.  And of course all of the new effects are just plain fun.  I paid for the "motherload" and didn't even know there was a POG2 clone!  Can't wait to play with that.

You're absolutely right about the interface needing some work.  It's not just "confusing" in a subjective way - it's inefficient.  Lots of things that could be doable with one tap require 3 or 4, lots of pop-ups that leave important UI elements visible render those elements inactive, lots of elements that look similar and can/should share functionality (e.g. effects toggling) don't.  The UI is powerful, and it looks good, but they could stand to workshop it to make it a little more intuitive and agile.

So far JamUp/Bias is the app I'll load if I want to play something that sounds best.  ToneStack is a close second, and I'll practice new songs there because of the great pitch/time control in the tapedeck.  Flying Haggis is great for a quick, bullet proof setup where you can't afford anything slowing you down, but it's my third choice in terms of actual amp tone.  Still quite good in its own right, though - they all are!

QuoteAlso adding effects is odd to start with as unlike Jamup you are not replacing an item so it's easy to get into a situation where you have 3 amp heads and 4 different speaker cabs all in a random order.

On this point in particular:  if you press and hold an amp/cab/effect - as opposed to pressing the "FX+" button - it will pop up a menu to replace that component.  It's just a little clunky because there's no immediate feedback on touch, and the delay before the menu appears is relatively long.  I'm still not 100% on which actions require taps vs. double taps, etc.

ToneStack is amazing!  I love the tones...latency is pretty good....the mother load is a bargain...I'm a tone junkie and this thing is a perfect fix.  Love the dual amp feature... I'll be doing some vids soon and soundclips as well.  Anyone want my initial custom patch...email me at buddemeyer72@yahoo.com rock on!

Mostly because AFAIK - there are no other resources for Yonac ToneStack Users to Share patches  (similar situation existed for Line 6 Variax users )
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?board=138.0

and I feel Yonac ToneStack is a powerful app that got most things right, deserves better User to User experience tools than Facebook, KBR Forum or Yonac Forum

https://www.facebook.com/YonacSoftware?hc_location=timeline

and the Yonac Forum is daily riddled with spambots

Sounds like an excellent plan to me.  Let Yonac focus on making Tone Stack even better, and let VGuitar Forums handle the professionally moderated discussion and presets created by some of the best out there. :)

Since Tone Stack supports Audiobus 2 state saving, that is another possible way to share patches.  The disadvantage is that you also have to have the Audiobus app.  I'm thinking anyone who is serious about incorporating iPad into their music workflow probably does though.

The advantage is how simple it is to share patches this way.  The patches get stored on the Audiobus server.  You get a link you can post, and when someone clicks it, it launches Audiobus, Tone Stack, and everything should be ready to start trying out.  They're easy to save and share too.  It can all be done from the iPad, simply and easily without a Mac/PC  Just a thought.

I am not going to claim this is most amazing patch.  In fact, I did not have a guitar plugged in when I made it - I was using the app "iFretless Guitar" to generate the guitar sounds (clean neck pickup setting).  Mostly, I just want to test the concept that Tone Stack patches can be shared here as an Audiobus 2 preset right from the iPad with no PC/Mac involved.

If this works, clicking this from an iPad with Audiobus and Tonestack installed should launch Audiobus with Tone Stack in the FX slot and the "Drifting Wood" FX chain and settings applied.  Input and Output slots should be empty (so, ready for a guitar and headphones/speakers).

Audiobus preset 'Drifting Wood': http://preset.audiob.us/LsTctsQzYyiVnI5

If this worked correctly, the ABY should be right at the beginning of the chain, and splitting between the Brownswood and Silver Trembler amps with a comp and Cosmic Echo after the Silver Trembler.

I tried

From iPad Safari, I click here: 'Drifting Wood': http://preset.audiob.us/LsTctsQzYyiVnI5

and it does launch AudioBus - and then it prompts to click the Yonac ToneStack iCon in center of Audio Bus Window, and this launches Yonac ToneStack

(so far so good)
QuoteIf this worked correctly, the ABY should be right at the beginning of the chain, and splitting between the Brownswood and Silver Trembler amps with a comp and Cosmic Echo after the Silver Trembler.
Here at my end  I get an error that says "The Tonestack preset for this setup is no longer available"

Interesting.  Thanks for testing.  I figure one of two things is going on.

1.  I had clicked the link to test it and perhaps it actually added a second Audiobus preset with the same name to my presets.  Perhaps that confused things.  In that case, i've deleted all but the original preset.  Can you try again?

2. Tone Stack's state saving is only going as far as to load the preset, and if it doesn't exist, it can't load it.

If you're able to try again and it still fails, I'll contact Yonac to see what we should expect.
