I own a VG99 and I'm very happy with it. I am also aware of the massive and excellent thread started by Bill Ruppert and contributed to by many:

However, I have never owned or even tried a VG8-EX but I was intrigued by what Elantric said on another thread which of course now I can't find but no matter - it amounted to the claim that the subsequent VG88 and the VG99 were somehow less powerful than the VG8-EX.

Can someone illuminate me in terms of how? What is better about the VG8-EX (I am saying "EX" as the final iteration of the model)?

In a nutshell the VG8 ex has algorithm's not in any other V guitar units which will give some unique sounds - not the easiest V system to live with though small screen by today's standards and no USB or external method to edit
( I still love this system though )

One nice VG-8 feature is the autotune; If your strings have drifted out of tune, a pedal press will pitch-shift the guitar back into concert pitch. Of all the features that I miss on the VG99, this is top of the list.
