I may sound stone age but please enlighten me.
My otherwise great digital Canon video camera lacks microphone input.
I want to produce better quality videos displaying gear and instructional things on Youtube with good sound.
What is the preferred way to do this without spending a fortune?
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

Tough to recommend one piece of gear

In general look for a camera with an external mic input.

The Zoom Q2, Q4, Q8, have limited optics.

I do like the Panasonic HC-WXF991K  - it can shoot picture in picture with multiple cameras in 5.1 surround sound

But older Lumix Cameras also work well for me  - with good audio recording  - even on the 7 year old lower cost models (ZS-3)

I still use Sony Vegas for my Video editor

( I turned Bill Ruppert onto Sony Vegas 10 years ago and he uses that to create his Effectology Videos

Its now owned by Magix)  - this bundle has many good features for the the money

for shooting new gear videos  - I prefer multi-track audio and video  - using multiple camera angles (Lumix, Canon, Nikon) and multiple audio recorders (Sony m10, Zoom H4N)  - and DI Boxes and headset mic.

Important during mixdown, - mute the room mic during sonic demos of gear under review - else you hear the raw guitar strings

Do you mean it lacks ext mic input ?
If it has a internal mic I'd use a setup with a daw and a good mic
and just switch the audio , easy breezy.

I play Country music too, I'm just not sure which country it's from...
