I've searched the forums, but haven't found an answer yet.  Is it possible to somehow import your own sound samples, that can then be played back at different keys?  Say maybe the sound of a barking dog, that you can play up and down the neck and have it play back at different pitches.

Not possible

Instead you can use GR-55 as Guitar to MIDI INTERFACE to drive separate sampler/synth or laptop with sampler/synth

That's what I was thinking, but I figured I'd check to be sure!
Thanks for the reply!

Would be nice if the GR-55 successor has the ability to load SoundFonts for the PCM synths,
I would dump 95% of the factory samples and use my own tones.
Free "GR-55 FloorBoard" editor software from https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/

An Akai MPX8 would probably be the cheapest way to do something like that.
