Hello all,

Seems on every factory guitar patch I play I can hear a distinctive "piano/wooden mallet" sound is the best I could describe it. Every fretted note ends in this unwanted sound. Almost like a wooden mallet striking a piano key. Strange, for example if I select nylon string guitar on PCM1, {PCM2 is off}, select a few effects like simple reverb and a hint of chorus the sound is very apparent. Has anyone experienced this? It is driving me nuts.

Check that Guitar to MIDI is disabled , if you are connected to a DAW you may be inadvertently triggering a PC hosted softsynth

Also That piano sound may occur when you download patches here , but neglect to  use Gumtown's  GR-55 Floorboard Editor

Read GR-55 FAQ

There are only three GR-55 factory patches that employ normal guitar

Hi, guitar to midi is off, not connected to DAW { not even sure what that is} and the only patches on the unit are the factory patches.

Try a GR-55 factory reset

Upload your problem patch.

If I do a factory reset will I lose all the patches I edited and saved in user ??

This sounds to me more like a guitar/hex pickup setup problem than a problem with the GR55.
