Hi All,

And please forgive me ..... im a novice with my 1st GR-55.

I thought after fitting the GK-3 pickup on my Fender Strat that when I selected the guitar on the 3 way switch I would have all the functions of my strat, but nothing happens it goes silent.

The only way to sound from the strat pickups on their own is to connect the amp to the guitar out on the rear of the GR-55, but then I have no effects?

Was I wrong in thinking this switch would do this?

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I don't know what has happened. I was programming some patches and now I have NO SYNTH sounds.

I have the modeled guitars , but that is it. I have looked at every setting and tried everything except a factory reset :'(

Happened to me once when I puked garbage MIDI into it.

Do you have a recent backup? If so a factory reset might be the best thing to do.

If no backup I would transfer the patches to PC first.
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

Thanks, I'm afraid a factory reset will be my only alternative.
I had just done a backup and hope it is not corrupt as well

As pointed out - a factory reset is probably the only thing that will resurrect your GR-55  synth sounds

make a backup first

OK I'll try that when I get home... Just wanted to make sure someone else didn't have another Idea. This is will be the first time I've ever done one in 30+ years of using Roland synths

If you made a backup before corrupting it you'll get all stuff back after factory reset+restore. At least it worked for me.

This is a remainder to all of us: DO BACKUPS !!!!

I did one shortly before everything went crazy, so I'm hopin

Same thing happened to me once. I was playing around with the midi in/out, using a Roland mkII USB/midi converter. Shut everything down, went to the gig...... all patches were silent.

No time to fix it so I did the night with no gr-55. Got home, did a factory reset, restored from a fresh backup on USB stick, and everything was fine. I'm certain it was caused by something I did while fooling around with the midi I/O. The issue has never happened since (about 18 months ago).

Same, went to sound check at a gig, no sound from the GR-55.
I did a USB stick backup, and the factory reset the GR-55, the GR-55 worked fine at first,
then I restored the total USB stick backup, and no sound again, and no system settings seemed to fix it.

So I factory reset again, the fault must have copied on to the USB memory stick.

Lucky I had a not so recent patch backup on my lighting controller laptop, so after the patch backup, and a quick GK setup,
I was on my way again, the only unforeseen disaster for the gig was the *.wav file player I use for some intro's and spot sample playbacks,
usually has a level of '25' but now the default was '100' (suddenly to my surprise at the time).

So I recommend for those who rely on the GR-55 for live playing, make a regular USB memory stick backup, while the going is good.
