I finally recd my FC1.  After getting it into my hands, i realized i can't actually use it to replace my laptop without somehow feeding a signal from the FC1 through the FC1 midi out (?) into something that i can connect to an amplifier or PA system.  My laptop, at least could connect dierctly to a mixer or amp.  I will see what i can find on the fishman site, but the instructions that came with the unit are really lacking in how to connect the FC1 to any amp, output device or interface.   At NAMM, I was told the FC1 would allow me to leave my laptop at home.  So far I'm still 13 pinning outside of my studio.

I hope i dont have to buy even more gear to get my FC1 groans to turn to grins.  I already scrapped my  2yo HP laptop (ADEQUATE PER FISHMAN)  for a hotrod windows laptop to make the original FTP unit work smoothly.  "Pssst...here's a rock bud....all you have to do is buy a crack pipe and that's it....i promise...."

I'm too "hooked" to quit.......  Any guidance would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you in advance, as always, for helping this fishman challenged almost great grandpa retain his few remaining "hairs of color".

Knowledge is power

the Fishman FC-I only provides Fishman Tripleplay with a USB Host to 5 pin MIDI conversion utility - no sounds on its own
(other USB Host to MIDi converters are listed here:)

Use the FC-1's  5 pin MIDI Out to trigger a third party MIDI Tone Module or keyboard synth

Some locate a used Roland GR-33 for this task (but avoid the Roland GR-55 since its PCM Synth engine does not respond to MIDI Notes on / off data)

A list of MIDI Tone Modules for MIDI Guitarists  is here:

And a list of new MIDI Tone Modules  with built in USB Host port that allow the Tripleplay USB Receiver to directly connect it here

Myself - 90% of the time I use Tripleplay with an iPad or iPhone + Apple USB Camera Adapter

as explained in the
FTP FAQ

all sounds made using triple play and IK Sample tank on iPad Mini

You are SO FAST Elantric!  I could have sworn i read that patches were stored on the FTP usb stick or on the FC1.   Must be getting senile....

So i can use the FC1 to trigger things like an axon or vg99 etc?  Are there any video tutorials on using the FC1?   I'll do some you tube surfing later but value your recommendation.

I have so many midi modules, and a few keyboards, i guess its time to start experimenting.  I doubt that i will lighten or simplify out of the studio v guitar like i had hoped the FC1 would, but it might give me a few new flavors, leaving the 13 pin cable at home.

Thanks Elantric.

I reread what i misunderstood.   I now see that the FC1 can replace the FTP software, but you still need a computer based soft synth or  hardware synth between the FC1 and the amplifier.  My bad......

Oh well, time to make some FC1 lemonade........
