Don't get me wrong, fellow V guitar enthusiasts- I love effects! But, even so, I am constantly drawn back to playing technique and skill. Once the novelty of an effect wears off, I don't even hear the effect so much as the playing. The best effect ever is playing better.

So in that spirit here is a video from the inestimably great legend Joe Pass, chock full of useful and mostly not too scary difficult ideas for players at medium to advanced levels.

electric: Epiphone Dot semihollow body, acoustic: mahogany jumbo, recording: Cubase Artist 11 or Tascam DP008

Oh yeah there are so many effects you can do with your fingers and other string manipulations.

I agree your sound is all in your hands and not in the effects you use. Not to say that what ever way you amplify that sound is unimportant but it all starts with your hands.
