I should add I used this patch to open a show last summer and it was really cool live thru a big PA.
Very surprised it worked as well as it did.

If all VG-99 patches were of this quality this box would be getting as much press as the AxeFX.

I import this patch you to test it but it was so good that I sat for a couple of hours to learn the whole song.. :P I've tried to achieve that sound with multiple effect processor and this patch is the best one I have heard.

Thanks again.

The only thing I notice about the patch is the "synth" portion of the patch you have to not press the left control pedal down very far - if you push it the pedal past the first third of the pedal's travel the drone sounds all murky and not smooth and synthy.

There's kind of a sweet spot where if it's too low it's too quiet and if it's too far it's too murky but if it's just before that it's perfect.

But I noticed that was on my other guitar with the GK3.  I've since placed it on a different guitar and I'll see how that goes.

the idea is to engage the pedal after struming the chord - otherwise it will sound bad.
As I mentioned in my first post this action will cut a small loop out of the sound - basically if you
engage the pedal when struming you will get the attack looped along with the sound. (that's why
you have to let the chord breath for a few ms in order to get the attack disipated). On the other
hand you don't have to wait too much unless your guitar has a good sustain, otherwise the whole
sound fades out and thus nothing to loop. The rest of the pedal range controls just the volume of the
loop.

cheers,
k.

I found part of my problem was the actual setup on the VG-99.  I was doing a lot of midi guitar at the time and had my settings too low - I bumped them up a tiny bit (not very much but 4-5 higher) and it got a lot better.  I should see if I can dig up that video of my performance where I used that patch, it was total space guitar time.

Simply amazing man,

You nailed the tones, and, most important, the playing

Roland should hire you for making patches, congratulations !

Are you able to download the files here?

This thread explains how to load the SMF  *.mid files we use to share VG-99 patches into the VG-99:

OK I found it - here is a bit of a live performance where I used this patch to begin a live performance of ambient guitar music - played after midnight and then looped in other textures and patches on the VG:

It starts with the crazy diamond patch then goes to my organ follower patch and then a few others I'm not ready to release yet - they're not quite where I want them.

Read Reply 18 and 19 on this thread. Is that your problem?

An update about this patch:

Try this:  make a copy of the patch and edit the patch so that the virtual guitar is using the bridge pickup instead of the neck and then use the FC-300 CRL #1 to kick in the gain.  So much fun - lots of gainy strat soloing fun to be had - the original patch I still love and use all the time but I'm digging soloing like a banshee on the version that has the bridge pickup going with the gain.  Wow!  Lots of fun!  Try it!  Then try it with the turbo overdrive set to about 75% - vroom vroom!

More to come...

The start of that video is Kope's great Crazy Diamond patch available here:
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=1386.msg7520#msg7520

After about two minutes I segue from the CD patch into the "Luxe Orchestra" patch I made available here:
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=4168.0

At around 6:10 I start fading in the Organ Follower:
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=2391.0

At around 6:47 the Pod Drifty Clean:
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=2384.0

The distortion patch is my "Not Santana" patch (see top of page 3 of this thread):
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=266.msg32877#msg32877

Towards the end I go back to the clean Shine On tone I think.  That was done in the chillout venue at a big science fiction convention where I've played for a number of years.

Most of the ambient and drone type patches are all up under the VG-99 patch library here under "clean".  I have a bunch of new ones.

The next year I had some better sounds I think.  And this past summer better yet.

Ah OK - cheers  :)

@Kope - very nice patch indeed! Great with the lights down low  :)

An exceptional fine preset, thanx for sharing it !  :) :) :) :)

I don't have an FC-300, but I was keen to use this (excellent) patch. I've made a few tweaks that enable it to be used with an expression pedal and a footswitch.

You'll need to use the GK volume for the volume for Guitar B, CTL-2 to switch the delay, and a footswitch to kick in the overdrive (although this could be assigned to CTL-1).

Here it is...
