An Iconic George Harrison track that probably has the best stuff Clpaton has ever played in his life on.

So...lots of debate on the net about this one over whether Clapton used a Leslie cabinet or whether the effect was "hand flanging". Supposedly George Harrison confirmed hand flanging BUT if you listen to Clapton's track solo'd it's very obviously a Leslie as it spins up to fast and back again a couple of times in the track.

So you'd think I'd have used the rotary cab effect then....well no, actually I couldn't get close but did get very close with a mod delay strangely.

I DO NOT REALLY KNOW THE CLAPTON GUITAR PART! (and I'm not going to learn it for a patch demo! No, I refuse!!) This is very much a busk in the flavour of - but it's a fun track to busk over. Clapton tracks is muted here but there is a little bleed on the keyboard track. Abbey Road amateurs!  ;D

And because it's a great track to busk over, you can download the backing track sans Clapton here:

This is the real thing for patch comparison

I can tell the difference between hand flanging and leslie and this is definetely leslie.

Nice work, I feel like I'm slacking.

Don't be silly! I'm just trying to play catch up and Asle well, he's just a freaking patch making machine!! It's great tho - spurring us all on.

Yeah, it's sort of amazing watching every day there's something new.  Crazy.

And here I thought I'd heard it all... what exactly is "hand flanging"?  Waving one's hand in front of a speaker to achieve a flanger effect?  I'm sure everyone's tried that once or twice, I just had no idea there was a name for it, much less "lots of debate on the net" LOL.

Smash

It does sound like an optional extra for an "assisted shower" doesn't it?  ;D

This explains: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jan01/articles/vintage.asp

I suspect there may have been both leslie and hand flanging on this - so "Hand flanged Leslie" then...(such a nice girl!)

mbenigni

Ah, manual tape flanging.  Also something I'd heard of without being aware of common terminology.

Otherwise LOL you beat me and my dirty mind to the punch...

I can see a gap in the market for a boutique digilogue hand flanger tablet/control surface app....

Probably two tablets to render two full size reels of Ampex wifi linked of course!

Find an old turntable and mount a pair of wireless mics at 180 degrees, and place in front of your guitar amp and record it in stereo  - gives a decent DIY slow leslie
