Hi  :)

About a year ago I recorded and shared a video tutorial on how I set up my RC-300 & GR-55 for live looping. In the end of that video I played a song to show how it all works. But I recorded it at home conected to my computer and so on. Live but not on an actual gig... Link:

Tonight I played a gig and since it was a slow night I decided to use my Iphone and record another video showing you how I do everything, realtime and live. 100% unedited (all my mistakes are included *he he*)

Maybe this could be of interest to someone here in this forum.

Since I recorded everything on my Iphone, the quality is VERY poor...!!

IMPORTANT: You need to play this back on a set of speakers or with headphones to get the most out of it.
Otherwise you will not be able to hear the bass and "drums" very well...

List of the songs in the video:

00:15 One of us (Joan Osborne)
06:20 You can't always get what you want (Rolling Stones)
13:05 Stand by me (Ben E. King)
18:22 Tip of my tongue (Mark " Diesel" Lizotte)
24:44 Don't let me down (Beatles)
31:48 Wouldn't it be good (Nik Kershaw)
37:57 I want you back (Jackson five)

Gear used:
Guitar: Godin xtSa
Sounds: Roland GR-55
Loopstation: Boss RC-300
Mic: AKG C 535 EB & SM 58
Vocal delay: Boss DD7

Enjoy :)

Peer,

Love your video. It has helped me immensely.
One question, how did you get the kick drum sound for your video?
The kick comes in several bars after you start the song tap tempo on the rc300.
Did you add the kick drum after you recorded the video?

Thanks

All the "drum" sounds are made on the fly, on my guitar...
I tap the tempo in to start the high-hat as a metronome. Then I Mute the strings with my left hand and record a percusive beat with my right, and if you watch it again you will see that I'm doing the kickdrum by by hitting the strings with a flat hand down by the bridge.
It should be easy to see at 24:44 (Don't let me down).

Nothing is added in after. This is an unedited video straight out of my iPhone :)

Thanks again. Your videos are a valuable source of information and inspiration.

Could you please post your "drums" patch you use in the gr55? Along with the eq settings you use for it?
I am trying to do a solo act here in Virginia and I am sure many others would love to use your drum patch.

Thanks again

Dude that was excellent. Outstanding guitar playing and singing.
I tried something last night.
I set the string sensitivity to zero. It helped a lot.

The GR-55 can act as the Audio and MIDI interface so apart from having a huge selection of built in sounds on the pedal, Alex also triggers soft synth patches straight from the computer.

I love the FTP because I notice very little latency and controlling soft synths is a heck of a lot of fun.  Question I have does using the GR-55 as a MIDI controller add noticeable latency compared to using just the FTP.  If it does not add  latency, I can not think of a reason not to have a floor based hardware synth except for the real estate it takes up and the learning curve that goes along with adding new gear.

As always, thanks Elantric or anyone else who chimes in.
