I'm postningen this again in the proper section. Anyone with a VG-8 out there? How much better is the emulation compared to GR-55? I've been offered a VG-8 system with extra sound board for abt. $650 USD. When would it be worth that investment?
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

Many might say the GR-55 sounds better for Electric Guitar and Amp Emulation compared to old VG-8

Remember the 1996 VG-8 ran at 18 bit @ 32kHz , which manifests as less transparent compared to GR-55's 24 bit @ 44.1kHz

The VG-8 is the only unit with "Autotune" - can retune your guitar in the middle of a song, at the expense of Alt Tunings. (On the VG-8 its AutoTune or Alt Tunings - not both)

The VG-8 has unique HRM Models best exhibited by David Coffin's VG-8 patches.

The VG-8 has excellent LCD feedback for patch vs stompbox mode.
The VG-8 is 1996 tech = 18 bit @ 32kHz processing
VG-8 Manual is here:

The VG-88 has the Gretsch COSM model, and a Normal 1/4" Guitar Input. (not found on the VG-8) and extensive MIDI Control assignment.
Use the VG-88 Veditor here:

The VG-88 is circa 2000 tech = 20 bit @ 44.1kHz processing
