The COMPLETE RECOVERY Operation Procedure for All new Mustang GT/GTX Users and resurrection of a non functioning Mustang GT/GTX

1 ) Verify you can Sign In with your Fender Tone ID with a Win/Mac PC
(write your name and password down on paper )
https://www.fender.com/tone

2 ) Perform a RECOVERY Operation ( see RED ARROWS above) , power off - hold down the Upper left button and the (xFX) button, then power on (be patient as it takes 4 minutes) this restores the Amp to the "Base Firmware Version" which was installed when Amp was shipped

3 ) Connect to Wi-Fi - on Mustang GT/GTX Amp, Enter your local Wifi log on credentials ( must employ shorter than 15 digits, no 5GHz ) and allow the amp to connect to Wifi.

3 ) Perform a WIFI UPDATE/RESTORE ALL Operation - power off - hold down the Upper left button and press down on the the Encoder KNOB , then power on (takes 2 to 4 minutes) this installs the latest Firmware available for your Amp from the Fender Server

4 ) Bluetooth - on the Mustang , enable the Bluetooth

5 ) Install Fender TONE app (Android/ IOS) ( if already installed , uninstall old version and reinstall)

6 ) DO NOT ENABLE BLUETOOTH on Android or IOS device - do not Pair the Mustang GT/GTX with your phone

7 ) Launch Fender TONE app, enter your FENDER TONE ID ( from step 1) , and allow the Fender Tone app to find your Mustang GT/GTX

- let the Fender Tone App do the following :
* tell you to enable Bluetooth on your smartphone
* let Fender Tone app make the Bluetooth connection to the Mustang GT/GTX

Its the nature of MIDI over Bluetooth - or "BLE MIDI" ( Bluetooth low Energy MIDI " - its NOT a Bluetooth Audio connection and the Fender Tone app has its own backdoor method to make the MIDI BLE connection to Mustang GT/GTX.

Bulk of connection failures / complaints are from folks who assume they must manually pair Mustang GT/GTX to their phone / tablet via Bluetooth before launching the Fender Tone App

QuoteAccording to Tera Melos' singer/guitarist Nick Reinhart, "The ease of accessing so many different sounds in a real guitar amp is incredible and you have everything you need right at your fingertips. I'm able to focus on being an artist and much less on the logistical part that can take up so much time – like building a pedalboard, or hunting down the right guitar amp."

I'm having trouble using the Tone app to connect my Mustang GT amp to my WiFi internet connection

We recommend giving your Mustang™ GT amp access to WiFi so it can download its own firmware updates for the best experience possible. The Tone app makes it easier to enter your WiFi network password using an in-app keyboard.

Please ensure that your wifi network is available and password is entered correctly. If unable to use Tone to put your amp on wifi, use the amp directly to connect to WiFi under Menu > WiFi. Confirm that the amp is showing its wifi radio as "on".

Loading takes too long

If you see a continuous loading screen when accessing WiFi networks on either the app or amp, we recommend using the amp to do the following:

Navigate to Menu > WiFi if you haven't already done so and note the continuous loading screen
Scroll down once with the Encoder dial to see the lower green block change, then press the Encoder button to select it
Now you should see a menu with options for SSID, Protocol, and Password.
First, enter the SSID (your WiFi network name) using the Encoder
Then, select your Protocol, which should be the only option other than None
Finally, enter your WiFi network password using the Encoder
Now select the Connect option at the bottom
At this point, you should be able to successfully connect to WiFi. If you're still having issues, please Submit a Request.

Amp crashes when accessing WiFi screen

If the amp crashes by redirecting to Preset 01, or restarting, when trying to access Menu > WiFi, this is a known bug in earlier firmware versions. Here are some possible solutions:

Move the amp to a location with fewer access points/available WiFi networks

https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001836743-How-to-update-firmware-on-a-Mustang-GT-amplifier

How to update firmware on a Mustang™ GT amplifier

We recommend running updates on your amp when you first purchase it, and whenever there's an issue that might be fixed in a newer version.

1. Ensure your amp is connected to the internet over wifi. You can use the Tone app to put the amp onto wifi, or go to Menu > Wifi to set it up on the amp itself.

2. Check the current version number by going to Menu > About This Amp.

3. Power the amp off using the power switch.

4. Hold down the encoder button and turn the amp back on. Continue holding for 5 seconds, and then release.

5. The amp will now enter an updating process, where it will search for, download, and apply the new update. Please do not unplug or disturb the amp or its network connection during this process.

6. When the amp is successfully updated, the screen will read: "Amplifier update complete, please restart your amp", with a green checkmark.
If your firmware is up to date, you'll see "No updates available".
Turn the amp off and back on again to restart it. Return to Menu > About This Amp to confirm that the version number has been updated.

According to Fender CEO Andy Mooney, 90% of people who pick up a guitar abandon it within the first year.  But a bunch of newer technologies could make it a lot harder to put down.  And part of the reason is that Fender's 'Mustang GT' amp is now loaded with app-controlled effects and tuning features (and they're constantly updating).

But first: let's step back.  Last August, Fender introduced their mobile tuning app for the iOS.  Dubbed Fender Tune, the app sported a ton of features, like auto tune, manual tune, chromatic tune, and more.

It would teach newer players how to change the pitch in their guitars.  Mooney said,

"When the kid plugs it in for the first time, it doesn't sound like a screaming cat when it comes out of an amp. We want to help with a lot of the basic stuff."

Now, the company has geared up its long-term plans into the mobile market with the introduction of a slew of features alongside their new amplifier.

Last November, Bloomberg reported that the company had a new guitar amplifier model in the works.  The Bluetooth-enabled amplifier would connect to apps wirelessly to let players alter and share sound effects.  Seven months after Bloomberg's initial report, Fender has launched its long-awaited amp model.

Say hello to the Mustang GT series.  Confirming Bloomberg's report, the Mustang GT features both WiFi and Bluetooth to get presets from Fender engineers.  According to the press release,

"Users can edit effects, share their own presets, create setlists for performances, access easy to download upgrades via WiFi and stream music through the Mustang GT amplifiers via Bluetooth technology."

To access these sounds, you'll need to download the companion app, Fender Tone, available for the iOS and Android.  To capture preset tones, the company tapped into artists across multiple musical genres.  Singer-songwriter Grimes, blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa and rock band Young The Giant worked closely with Fender.

Speaking on the launch of the Mustang GT Amplifier series, Ethan Kaplan, Chief Product Officer, said,

"Fender Tone is the second release in Fender Digital's suite of applications, and the first hardware companion application we have developed.  It, alongside Fender Tune, aims to accompany players at every stage of their musical journey.  Now, with artist-curated presets from Josh Adam Klinghoffer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gary Clark Jr. and Anthrax's Scott Ian – channeling your favorite song or band for some added inspiration has never been easier."

In addition to Bluetooth and WiFi, the Mustang GT amplifiers sport USB output for recording.  Models start at $299 for the 40-watt Mustang GT, $399 for the 100-watt model, and $599 for the 200-watt model.  All three models come with Celestion speakers.

Users can download Fender Tone from the Google Play Store and iOS App Store.  Now, guitar players can also purchase the Mustang GT amplifiers.  However, one thing to note is that the new amplifiers will receive (and require) frequent software updates. Fender says this is to "ensure a smooth experience."

Quote from: dazco, post: 24058871, member: 1963I have some speaker info. Emailed celestion and got the reply today to the question what celestion is the fender labeled speaker in the GT similar to. He said it's basically a 100 watt version of the 80 watt celestion "seventy 80". Researching it i have found the seventy 80 is a rather neutral/flat sounding speaker that a lot of people dislike. Makes sense it would be flat, and celestions description of the seventy 80 basically says just that but also says it adds celestion flavor to any amp which doesn't sound to me like a flat response speaker. I thing the fact it's a neutral sounding speaker is likely why there are a lot of bad reviews. being an inexpensive celestion a lot of people buy them to upgrade amps thinking they're going to get typical celestion sound but find that the sound is harsh/thin due to the flat response that doesn't add and subtract frequencies that flavor typical tube amps. In any case i think i'll see how it fares when broken in and try it in a band context and then make a decision then whether it needs to go.

My research indicates the Mustang line of amps are built by "Gold Peak" (GP) Electronics.

Will my MS-4 or ULT-4 4-Button footswitch work with my Mustang GT amplifier?

If you own a Fender® MUSTANG™ MS-4 footswitch, or a ULT-4 4-Button Footswitch (used with the G-Dec 30), both will work with the new MUSTANG GT amps. Both footswitches will control the functionality of the Mustang GT in exactly the same manner as the MGT-4 footswitch (which is optional with MUSTANG GT 40 and 100, but included with 200)

Although the functionality is the same on all three footswitches, the labeling on the legacy footswitches differs from the MGT-4. The image below shows the button functionality if you were to use your legacy footswitch with a MUSTANG GT's. The PDF below also provides an overlay that will print to scale, so that you may cut it out and tape it to your legacy switch.

We will soon be producing and offering, free of charge, a magnetic overlay that you may apply and remove at any time from your legacy switch, however, until it is available, the attached PDF will allow you to use your legacy switch.

The Mustang GTX is identical to Mustang GT on Firmware 3.0
(There is a new 67 Page manual that covers most questions)

Q 1. Is aux-in routed to XLR outs?
A NO

Q 2. If it is, is the cab sim applied to aux-in signal?
A No

Q 3. Does the built in looper record aux-in?
A No  - likewise the Stereo Aux In signal nor FX Loop return is sent to the USB Recording out

The Mustang GT / GTX  topology is same as the Mustang III/IV V2
Guitar Input Opamp preamp  to dual port expanded dynamic range 24 bit AKM A/D (AK4556 CODEC) feeding a Dual Port NXP (Motorola DSP 56xxx) DSP. , Stereo I2S from DSP feeds the AK4556 Stereo 24 bit DAC which feeds the Stereo External FX Loop , the Stereo AUX Input is mixed with Stereo FX Loop Return which feeds the Stereo headphone Amp  and Class D Power Amp  to the 12" Speaker(s)

In the Mustang GT/GTX , the Cab Sim is tied to the Amp Sim - (where it should be IMHO)

The Stereo FX Loop is right before the Stereo XLR Outputs
On GTX 50 / GTX 100 /GT 100 These signals get summed to the Mono Class D Power Amp

Q  4. Is possible to do everything from the amp itself and the app/software is not needed for this.
A YES

Q 5. Describe the Mustang GT /GTX USB Audio?
Mustang GT/GTX amps are 16bit USB CLASS COMPLIANT  - for USB Audio INPUT ONLY  into your DAW. ( but Mustang GT/GTX Amps do not work as USB DAC
No USB Playback - same as old Mustang Amps too.

But its for USB record only(no USB Playback - same as old Mustangs are)

https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us...o-my-computer-using-my-Fender-Mustang-GT-amp-
----
How do I record to my computer using my Fender® Mustang™ GT amp?

The Fender® Mustang™ GT amp can be used to record audio into DAW (digital audio workstation) software on your computer via the micro usb port located on back of the amp.

The Fender Mustang GT USB port is for audio output only.
The Amp does not support USB Audio Playback

Please see methods below for both Windows and Mac computers.

WINDOWS

For Windows OS you will need to install the Fender ASIO driver.

Fender_Universal_ASIO_2_10_F.exe
https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/articles/214343123-How-do-I-know-which-ASIO-Driver-to-use-

Once you have installed this driver, you can use the DAW software of your choice, and select "Fender Mustang-GT USB Audio" from the preferences window of your DAW as the input or record device. You can also select either the built-in or a third-party ASIO playback device of your choice for playback from the Fender_Universal_ASIO set-up screen accessible through the DAW or the icon on Windows bottom bar right corner.
(The Fender Mustang GT ASIO driver is "ASIO MultiClient" and unlike Roland / Boss ASIO, will allow using third party ASIO  interfaces as your USB Audio Output
Quote"[...] ASIO (Audio Streaming Input Output) is a technology of Steinberg.
It allows for low latencies and pretty much every state-of-the-art audio device is nowadays delivered with an ASIO driver (on Windows, at least). However, the basic idea behind ASIO is
that professional audio applications entirely take ownership of the ASIO device. Only very few ASIO drivers support true multiple application access.
This effectively means that you can not use 2 or more applications using the same ASIO device at the same time.

The ASIO Multiclient wrapper overcomes this problem by providing a 'proxy' ASIO driver (the ASIO client), several of which can connect to the one ASIO Server, which in turn
'speaks' to the target ASIO device (driver). The server mixes the output streams of all applications, and provides that mix to the target device. [...]"
https://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=48

To choose playback device for Windows computer:.

1. With your amp connected click, Options/Preferences.
2. Select ASIO as your Driver Type.
3. Select Fender Universal ASIO as your Audio Device.
4. Click Hardware Setup from your Audio" tab to configure Input and Output

When your ASIO Settings window opens up and you have your Mustang-GT connected to your computer via USB, the ASIO Windows Settings (see below) will display the input ("Mustang GT "Fender Mustang-GT USB Audio") and output ("Realtek HD Audio")

In this example we select "Fender Mustang-GT USB Audio" as input and "Realtek HD Audio" as output (see below)

MAC
When using a Mac, there are no drivers necessary

1. Go to the Apple key icon in the upper left corner of the desktop on your Mac shown here.

2. In the System Preferences window, select the "Sound" Preference Pane as shown below.

3. In the "Sound" Preference Pane, confirm that "Fender Mustang-GT USB Audio" is a visible input device in the Input tab. and select it as the record device in your DAW software.

In the Mustang GT/GTX , the Cab Sim is tied to the Amp Sim - (where it should be IMHO)

Epic fail, no tap tempo via footswitch! They came so close...

Actually you can use the GTX-7 / MGT-4 Preset foot switch as a Tap Tempo

https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002298246-Using-The-MGT-4-4-Button-Footswitch-With-The-Mustang-GT-40-100-200-Amps
-------
Using The MGT-4 4-Button Footswitch With The Mustang GT-40/100/200 Amps

The Fender® MGT-4 4-button footswitch will work with all Mustang GT Amplifiers.

The footswitch has four modes that are identified by the four LEDs labeled QA MODE, PRESETS, EFFECTS and LOOPER. There is also a Tuning mode.

MODE 1 -  Quick Access mode - Users can create 3 favorite presets (QA1/QA2/QA3) via "QUICK ACCESS" mode

1. Connect a 4-button footswitch to your Mustang GT Amplifier and select "QA mode

Press the "MENU" button on your MUSTANG GT Amp

Scroll to "QUICK ACCESS" option and press encoder

Scroll to QA 1-2 or 3 and choose the one you want to set, press encoder to scroll through list of PRESETS and press encoder to set it as a "QA

Repeat previous steps for next 2 "QA PRESETS"
Press "MENU" to exit out and test the QA PRESETS on your footswitch

MODE 2 -  PRESETS (Preset Select & Bank UP/DOWN)

1. Press the leftmost footswitch to select "PRESETS" mode

In this mode footswitches 1-2-3 are used to select presets
In this mode, you can also select banks of 3. To do this you must simultaneously press the 2 buttons (left of display) labeled: BANK DOWN for descending presets in banks of three and simultaneously press the 2 buttons (right of display) labeled BANK UP for ascending presets in banks of three.
Note: When you select a preset, the number of the preset will appear in the display of the footswitch and display of amp

Tap Tempo - To use tap tempo on your 4-button footswitch, simply tap the currently selected preset switch 2 times while in either Preset or "QA" mode.  The green LED under the display will flash at the current tempo.

Note: Tap Tempo is NOT available in Effects or Looper mode.

MODE 3 - EFFECTS (Bypass effects)

In this mode, each footswitch can be used to enable or bypass the first 3 available effects in the preset. The footswitch button LEDs indicate the effects that are active on the buttons labeled: FX 1, FX 2, FX 3 (in line with the EFFECTS LED).

MODE 4 - LOOPER

LOOPER mode enables the user to record loops up to 60 seconds long and overdub subsequent parts. Any number of overdubbed parts can be layered over the original recorded part; however, only the last overdub created can be undone.

1. Press the leftmost footswitch to select "LOOPER" mode

2. To begin recording the first musical passage, step on button labeled "REC/DUB." The red FUNCTION LED above FUNCTION button 1 will begin flashing and the DISPLAY WINDOW will show "REC," indicating that the LOOPER is in recording mode; play a passage of any time duration up to 60 seconds.

3. When finished playing, stop recording and automatically begin playback by stepping on button 2 labeled "PLAY/STOP." The red LED above button 1 will stop flashing, the red LED above FUNCTION button 2 will illuminate, and the DISPLAY WINDOW will indicate playback by showing "PLA". To stop playback, step on button 2 again; the DISPLAY WINDOW will show "StP".

4. Alternately, when finished playing the first musical passage, step on button 1 again to go straight into overdub mode; the red LED above button 1 will continue flashing and the DISPLAY WINDOW will show "DUB," indicating that the LOOPER is now in overdub mode and a second musical passage can be recorded over the first. Overdub mode can also be activated during playback or after stopping playback by stepping on button 1 again. Continue overdubbing musical passages as often as desired. After an overdub is recorded, step on button 2 to start and stop playback of all recorded parts.

5. While recording, playing back or stopped on the first musical passage, the user can undo the recording if desired by stepping on button labeled "UNDO." Recording will stop and the DISPLAY WINDOW will read "STP", and whatever had been recorded is now erased. Once overdubs have been added, however, the UNDO function applies only to the last overdub recorded; preceding overdubs cannot be undone.

TUNER MODE

Press and hold button 3 until tuner mode is engaged. Strike the string you want to tune.

When a string is tuned LED directly under display screen will illuminate green.

When a string is "Flat" LED above button 1 will illuminate red.

When a string is "Sharp" LED above button 2 will illuminate red.

Fender Mustang GT 40 - tried to connect to my iPhone 6 Plus running IOS 10.3.1 using USB cable and Apple USB Camera Adapter
( for USB Class Compliant Audio) = incompatible with IOS.

A Powered USB Hub may be the solution

While on Android - just use a USB OTG adapter and record stereo 16 bit USB AUDIO from the Mustang GT/GTX USB port.

might be next week before I can report on MIDX-20 with Mustang GT

Given the flat response of the celestion speakers used, do you think GT40 it's a good companion for my GP10? (I know in the past, including Roland Katana 50) the idea was not to use amp modeling with a modeling amp but maybe this time..

Yes for home use only

Mustang GT 40 will never be loud enough for a live gig band situation

But it makes a decent home practice tool  - feed other Processors into the AUX Input on GT 40 or GT 200 = Stereo Monitor

INORAN meets Mustang ™ GT

Next-generation digital amplifier with latest wireless technology, Mustang ™ GT series. By using the Fender TONE ™ application, its possibilities extend further. This time, preset distribution by Japanese artist supervision is realized through that Fender TONE ™ application. We focus on INORAN (LUNA SEA), Ken (L'Arc ~ en ~ Ciel), Souichiro Yamauchi (Fuji Fabric), to approach the process of preset creation and the attention of making sound. As the first step, I will report the pattern of INORAN sound making.

Mustang GT

'57 Bandmaster is nice, there is a punch
First of all, I chose a preset that is basic and try fine tuning from there. I aim for the spreading fantasy clean tone which can be said as his pronoun. When you sound the sound to confirm one by one from over 100 pre-installed presets and decide the base preset, change the amplifier to rsquo; 57 Bandmaster. "The '57 Bandmaster is nice, there is a punch," it looks like she felt a response while playing the arpeggio with high strings. I further refine Treble and refine my glitter.

Adjust the assigned effect group

Once the amp is decided, the next step is to adjust the effect. Three we chose "Sine Chorus", "Stereo Tape Delay", "'65 Spring". "Sine Chorus" is a smooth, rounded chorus using sine waves for modulation. "Stereo Tape Delay" is a delay based on analog masterpiece Maestro Echoplex which produces a unique wah and flutter. '65 Spring' is a reverb that was installed in the classic Fender amp in the mid 60's. Especially "Stereo Tape Delay" takes time to explore the optimum delay time and finally set it to 524 ms.

Depth is 8 o'clock direction

First, change the chorus to "Triangle Chorus" of a distinct effect using triangle wave for modulation, finally choice "Sine Chorus". Depth in the delay seems to be his commitment to set it in the 8 o'clock direction.

Clean tones that can spread the world, the scenery can be seen
"Whether you are composing, demonstrating sound production or recording, you finally want to play with everyone in the stage on stage, as if you are thinking of such a sight, you can imagine such a sight that is like being an arena or spreading the world even at a live house I thought it would be nice to create a preset and I created a preset that looks like a picture, a clean looking scene. When LUNA SEA is picked up, the front is the center, the solo uses halftone, the recording occasionally uses rear However, I set it so that plenty of sound will be produced at any position.

I use these digital amp for the first time, but I will buy it and go home (laugh). Lightness is also important, and I think that there are people who bring to stage and various situations as well as composition at home. If I were you I would only take one guitar and pedal for live abroad. Rehearsals and live houses are so, but there are individual differences in the state as you rent an amp. But since Mustang ™ GT is not affected by the condition, I think that I can focus on playing with confidence and that performance will be better as a result. Even if you do not have it, you can download only presets and use them. "

INORAN's CLEAN preset outline
 Set the amplifier to "Fender '57 Bandmaster" and choose "Sine Chorus" "Stereo Tape" "Fender' 65 Spring" as effects. For details of numerical values, "Fender% rsquo; 57 Bandmaster" is Gain 3.7 / Volume 4.8 / Treble 4.4 / Middle 5.5 / Bass 5.2 / Presence 7.3. "Sine Chorus" is Level 10 / Depth 12.3 / Avg Delay 12.7 / LR Phase 18. "Stereo Tape" is WetLvl 5.3 / Feedback 1.9 / Wow Level 4.4 / Stereo Spread 10 / Delay Time 542 ms. "Fender '65 Spring" is Wet Level 5.5 / Decay 5.9 / Dwell 3.6 / Diffuse 10 / Tone 5.5.

How to download via the Fender TONE ™ application
Launch the Fender TONE ™ application from the smartphone, select "INORAN's Clean" from the "Browse → ARTIST" list screen and click "ADD" or search icon on the upper left Tap to search for "INORAN" and "INORAN's Clean" to "ADD" and a preset will be added to the connected amp. (To download ※ The version needs to be latest with amp firmware update.)

> Here is a method of downloading directly from the amplifier itself without going through the smartphone

Mustang ™ GT
Fender's proposed next-generation amp "Mustang ™ GT". As Mustang ™ amplifier series, Mustang ™ GT, which is the 3rd generation, is packed with state-of-the-art modeling technology that surprises the world, and "vintage amp sound of the former '59 BASSMAN' and '62 TWIN REVERB' 21 types and high quality effects 47 types. The biggest innovation is that it is equipped with Wi - Fi for the first time in the world. This allows you to update firmware with Mustang ™ GT alone without connecting to a PC and easily add presets created by artists and users all over the world to the amp. QuoteI swear the tone has improved, and someone at the fender forum also noticed it. The bassman which was my fav model on the MIII always felt a little too dark and not focused enough on both amps. Now it no longer is like that. It has more clarity and breaks into harmonic feedback much quicker and easier. That plus a bunch of new global EQ presets and i don't think there's a tone you can't tweak to perfection. I loved the tone before but its just gotten a good bit better. Great update. If you have one do it ASAP.

How Do I Use My EXP-1 Expression Pedal With The Mustang GT Amp?

The Fender EXP-1 Expression pedal offers users the option to assign parameters that are programmable on an amp model or effect. Below are the setup steps to assign the EXP-1 to function as a Wah-Wah. (These are the same steps that can be applied to whatever FX or Amp feature you wish to control with the EXP-1)

1. To connect an EXP-1 to your amp.

Connect a ¼" cable into EXP-1 pedal (connection instructions are on the bottom of the EXP-1) connect the other end of cable into jack labeled "footswitch" on back of amp and connect guitar cable from guitar to "input" jack on amp.

To connect an EXP-1 and MGT-4 together you will need 3 cables to connect both pedals and guitar, connection instructions are on the bottom of the EXP-1 pedal for connecting both pedals.

2. Turn on the amplifier. Turn the Encoder wheel and scroll from preset 1 to preset "74" and press the Encoder to select. (We are using Preset 74 in this example as it has a Pedal Wah effect enabled)

3. Press the "MENU" button on your amp, scroll encoder wheel to "EXP-1" setup option and press the Encoder to select.

4. Scroll the Encoder wheel to "PRESET SETTINGS" option and press the Encoder to select.

5. Scroll the Encoder wheel to select PEDAL WAH. (Please make sure an Amp or an FX is present before proceeding to next step, for this example we're using a Pedal WAH because it is in preset "74").

6. Press the third soft-key and scroll right 1 turn to access "EXPRESS MODE" option, press the Encoder to select and scroll to AMP/FX option and press the Encoder again.

7. Scroll over 1 more turn to access "PARAMETER" option, press encoder and scroll data heel to choose "MIX" to control WAH FX with the EXP-1 expression pedal. Exit out of "EXP-1" menu to test expression pedal by pressing the "MENU" key.

8. There are two additional parameters you can adjust from this screen, they are Heel/Toe adjustments and Bypass (which when accessed from this screen will disable the effect).

Other features to be aware of are:

Global volume can also be controlled along with the chosen parameter you've setup for your expression pedal (Wah Wah for this example) by enabling "Volume Mode" (1st position on bottom row of controls in "EXP-1 PRESET screen)
"BYPASS MODE" (also located in "EXP-1 PRESET screen and 6 turns from the beginning) can also be controlled from this screen when enabled.
If you are happy with the settings, press the Save button to save the updated Preset. Note that you will overwrite the current Preset data when you save the updated Preset to that location.

Not possible out of the box -

In the Fender Mustang GT universe  - only the Fender 4 button and Fender EXP-1 Expression pedal work with Mustang GT / GTX

New firmware update just posted. Disclaimer: this one's not that exciting - OK, it's not exciting at all, actually - but it's something all GT owners will definitely want to (and really NEED to) do ASAP, regardless. This particular update addresses the situation that occurred last week wherein, as a few folks noted here, firmware updates were not working briefly. You MUST do this particular update in order to ensure that you'll be able to perform updates in the future problem-free! You're updating so you can update, basically. :-)

Meanwhile, there's a much more interesting firmware update coming very near future (perhaps as soon as end of month) that I'm told will have a number of nifty new features including some of the things folks have been asking for here: starting up with the same preset after power cycling; moving presets; improved Android 6.0.1 support. Good stuff - all coming soon!

It's a bummer, it's a new design team at Gold Peak in china (OEM)who developed the new Fender Mustang GT for Fender) reinvented the wheel and made a clean break with nothing carried over from the old Fender Fuse era amps ( GDEC,MUSTANG ) even the 4 button foot pedal is more buggy than before with random roulette wheel results with each foot press.
Check out the Vox Adio GT / BS amps for a superior Tone and features

And I had hoped the Fender Mustang II/III/IV community would embrace the idea of Roberts MIDX-20 MIDI Control solution for Mustang Amps , but I suspect only three customers in that community care about this unique tool
http://www.primovasound.com/midx_20.html

They did sell thousands of 2010-2016 era Fender Mustang Amps  - so perhaps word will spread for those owners

It's a shame that folks under age 40 can't understand or comprehend the need for deep MIDI Foot control for their Mustang amp and effects that the MIDX-20 provides right now.

Not even Fender support understands the need for the MIDX-20, they target a much different low tech culture compared to Roland/Boss . sad I live to see the day the average drummer in USA is more knowledgeable about MIDI (due to Vdrum sample configuration) , compared to most guitarists

Sorry to hear the efforts with the Fender Mustang Bridge the whole last summer was useless with the new amps. I stick to Roland/Boss gear only for the future. Yoshi and his friends at work seem more predictable and consistent. Boss-San, arigato gozaimashita. Also the Katana sound much better.
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

MUSTANG GT SOUND CUTS OUT

The sound cuts out for a second intermittently. Help?
Quotefyi for anyone else who has experienced this issue - I've been in contact with Fender Customer Service, this is a known issue with the current version of the software. It's supposed to be fixed in the next release.
