Has anyone found a usb2.0 -> barrel adapter to fit the plugable 4-port hub? I measured the plug out (4.75 OD, 1.7 ID, no pin) which makes it to standard EIAJ-3 which is not the usual. Before I make one up (and I have googled around) does anyone know of a source for a ready-made usb cable to that spec?

A new crucial component has arrived from Apple that will aid anyone using third party USB Class Compliant Audio/ MIDI Interfaces,

I will  be testing this later this week.

Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter
http://9to5mac.com/2016/03/21/smart-keyboard-9-7-inch-ipad-pro/#jp-carousel-424070
With the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter, it's easy to transfer photos and videos from your high-resolution digital camera to your iPad Pro. After you connect the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter, your iPad Pro automatically opens the Photos app, which lets you choose photos and videos to import, then organizes them into albums.
Add even greater capability and versatility to your iPad Pro by powering the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter with a USB Power Adapter. Then you can connect USB peripherals like hubs, Ethernet adapters, audio/MIDI interfaces, and card readers for CompactFlash, SD, microSD, and more.
The Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter supports standard photo formats, including JPEG and RAW, along with SD and HD video formats, including H.264 and MPEG-4. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro transfers data at USB 3 speeds, while the 9.7-inch iPad Pro uses USB 2.

Anything that worked before with older Lightning USB Camera Adapter still works with the new USB 3 version, with benefit that the new Lightning USB3 adapter allows the iPad to be charging during use.

So far these all work

Fender Slide (Audio)
Fender FTP Strat (Audio) and FTP Dongle (MIDI)
Roland US-22 Duo Capture EX (Audio and MIDI)
Roland UM One MK2 (MIDI)

Sadly the Focusrite Scarlet 2i4 still requires the special USB Power Y cord and additional power supply.  (as explained here)

This can be used to connect an usb + lightning device simultaneously?
I. e.: an sonic port  (only lightning port) + Fishmann tripleplay usb key?
or lightning device + usb hub with several periferals?

No the  - the lightning port on this specific adapter is only for DC Power Input

I'm looking for a power bank that would also have an AC out for my Roland GR33
as well as 3 USB ports too .

It's quite funny , about 5 minutes before I read this post ( thank you too ) I got an email from Amazon
with this unit .

This along with the one Elantric posted tells me one thing big time .

They are [ Jobbers ] knocking these out from a readily available source
and  getting their name placed on them when bought in big quantities .

¡  :o I gotta find their source ! They would be at least 30% cheaper betcha  ;D .

Thanks for the input man .

You're the expert with this stuff, having played with tons more gear than I. In your opinion, is iPad multitracking best just done with an external modeler like Atomic, GT1, etc. than it is messing with software modelers, given the latency issue?

I'm thinking about just getting a small modeler and using the direct monitoring, to see how that is. GT1 or AmpliFIREBOX seems to be a nice small little option.
For a mobile solution recording with an iPad , yes I prefer skipping the IOS guitar amp modelers ( Bias, Jamup, Yonac Tonestack) and instead use a good Guitar amp modeler which includes a Audio USB Class Compliant interface  - 24 bits is best.

Sadly this hardware is rare , and often requires separate powered USB Hub before the Guitar amp modeler box with Audio USB Class Compliant interface will work with an iPAd

( Headrush, Helix)

also a few interfaces that used to work ( like my Fender G-DEC 30) - "broke" with the release of IOS 9, so in practice its a gamble and short window of functional use  - until the next IOS update arrives and breaks external USB audio actually working without an Error Message .

I'm going to test a Zoom G5n with an iPad next week.

But I advise use a separate 24 bit USB class compliant audio interface from the list here

Apple is intent on only allowing official mFI ( Made for iPhone/iPad) licensed gear to actually work

I am pleased to report I have managed to resolve this issue

As I said previously I had bought a Apple Lightning to USB 3 camera adapter and it still didn't work
https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MK0W2AM/A/lightning-to-usb-3-camera-adapter

Well since then I have managed to borrow a powered usb hub and here's what I find works
Plug the Mustang GT 40 into the hub, plug the hub into the Camera Connection kit adaptor then plug the lightening plug of the adaptor into the Ipad.
Note the usb hub doesn't need to be powered up
The hub seems to con the Ipad into thinking everything has enough power.
Not a fan of Apple stuff and this experience has done nothing to help.
Hope this thread is helpfull to anyone experiencing similar issues
