A Variation on the old US Robotics Beam Forming conference room microphones - but this one is multichannel

--

http://www.musicradar.com/news/musikmesse-2017-zylia-promises-to-let-you-make-studio-quality-multitrack-band-recordings-with-a-single-microphone

It sounds like magic, but the new creators of the new Zylia 'portable recording studio' say that their system enables bands to record their performances with a single microphone, and then mix them as multitracks using dedicated software on PC, Mac or Linux.

The Zylia ZM-1 is billed as a USB multitrack microphone that features 19 mic capsules and supports 24-bit/48kHz recording. The Zylia Studio software, meanwhile, extracts the individual instruments onto separate tracks so that you can mix them or export them individually into your DAW of choice.

Zylia is billed as the perfect solution for bands who want a quick and easy way of capturing their rehearsals and live performances. The set up time should be pretty much zero, and there's no need for multiple mics and an interface.

Zylia will be on show at Musikmesse, where we'll endeavour to find out more about it. In the meantime, you can check out the Zylia website, where pre-orders are currently being taken for $999.

http://www.musicradar.com/news/musikmesse-2017-daddario-debuts-mini-chromatic-pedal-tuner

MUSIKMESSE 2017: The world of guitar tuners is hotly contested - as our round-up of the best examples attests - but D'Addario has used its considerable tuning pedigree to enter a new mini pedal tuner into the fray.

Besides its lightweight, compact build, the imaginatively named Chromatic Pedal Tuner features a vertical-sweeping LED pitch display for a "clearer, more intuitive read".

D'Addario is bigging up its 32-bit chip, which has four times the processing power of a regular headstock tuner for a faster, more accurate readout, with a smoother display.

True bypass switching and 9V power supply operation are also onboard.

The D'Addario Pedal Tuner is available from 1 June for £92 in the UK, and 1 May for $119 in the USA. See D'Addario for more.

I may visit the Pro light and sound and Musik Messe on Friday. But I will only manage one day. The main focus will be on the Pro light and sound halls. I may have a little time left for the guitar halls.

Anybody else visiting on Friday?

I am more disappointed I could not find Atomic, Line6 or Audiosprockets on the exhibitor list. It does suprised me that Roland does not pop up either in the list. Yamaha is all over the place...

Comprised of 3 stereo inputs, an effects send and return loop and a USB audio interface the Keylargo is a simple but effective way to get your multiple keyboard sources into one mix.
The USB interface allows you to take the audio from a computer and mix it easily without the need for a separate interface. The Keylargo also has a monitor and main output control which allows you to easily level your stage monitors against FOH.

Combining pitch/frequency shifting, spectral warping, reverbs and dry/wet morphing you can really get some interesting effects out of the Zynaptiq Wormhole.
In this video Denis gives us an overview of the features and also some background into the way in which the effects are made, which in true Zynaptiq fashion is not the most traditional way.

Retronyms has released Looperverse, which they describe as the ultimate loop recording/performance system for iOS. It's the result of a multi year collaboration between Retronyms and Cycling '74, creators of MAX/MSP. The Looperverse product lineup includes a wireless stomp pedal and an app for iPhone and iPad.
A spokesperson told us, "Looperverse is a unique hybrid of a familiar looper, with some of the most powerful aspects of computer-based multi-track recording and editing. It is a unique combination of always-there immediacy with the ability to powerfully manipulate what you've recorded, right away."
Here's the full story in the developers' own words...

Looperverse merges the classic pedal-based live looping workflow -- utilized by Ed Sheeran, DubFX, DJ Quest, and more -- with powerful multitouch editing features. Including an array of advanced tools, Looperverse makes recording, editing, and customizing loops simple. Continuously record up to 16 tracks worth of content, and immediately edit them. The 16 track loop recorder includes sound-on-sound, overwrite, and next track modes. Musicians can adjust track sends to the built-in delay and reverb effects, as well as adjusting pan, gain, mute, and solo in the mixer. Looperverse features advanced waveform editing, pitch shifting, time stretching, live reverse, extensive undo/redo, and time signature support. These features allow musicians to limitlessly modify their scenes and explore phrases and riffs.

The Looperverse app connects your music to the iOS music ecosystem. Inter App Audio and AudioBus support ensures that you can record any virtual instrument. Looperverse also supports Ableton Link, allowing musicians to lock tempo with Ableton Live or apps on other devices. AudioCopy support allows musicians to quickly publish music on SoundCloud, copy and paste from hundreds of compatible apps, and choose from millions of loops and sounds available in the Content Store.

The app is integrated and enhanced with the Looperverse pedal, which provides 6 premium quality switches pre-mapped to undo, redo, clear, tap tempo, record, and playback. Each setting is fully customizable, so users can remap to their liking. It can be controlled from users' iOS devices and will work as a standalone pedal with any device that supports MIDI. Because the Looperverse pedal supports the Bluetooth (BTLE) MIDI standard, it's compatible with virtually any software on any device. Musicians can control Looperverse from external hardware and remap to their liking with MIDI and MIDI Learn support.

App Features:
Advanced 16 track loop recorder
Time stretching and pitch shifting for scenes, tracks, and segments
Delay and reverb send effects
Built in mixer with pan, gain, mute, and solo
Advanced waveform editing
Snap to grid or transient for extensive editing
Advanced time signature support
Tap tempo
Stem export for DAWs
Reverse songs or musical segments in real time while recording or playing back
Extensive undo/redo
Audio triggered record
Play scene with keyboard
IAA, Audiobus and Ableton Link support
MIDI and MIDI learn support
AudioCopy and AudioPaste support

Pedal Features:
Premium quality powder coated aluminum enclosure
Low latency Bluetooth MIDI interface
Six premium quality steel switches
Pre-mapped and fully customizable

Pricing and Availability:
Looperverse is available now in the App Store.

The app retails for $9.99 and works universally with iOS devices.

I visited the messe yesterday. Found it to be a lot smaller than 6/7 years ago. Both drums and guitars were in one hall. It is quite easy to visit in one day and see it all.

I was really interested in moddevices. Had a nice chat at the stand. They have just implemented snapshots, because loading a new rig does take some time. I also had a quick playthrough. I think it sound allright. It has a lot of potential, but it is still early days and quite expensive.

I also saw the new Bias chorus pedal:

BluGuitar were doing some great demos:

And outside I found Relish guitars:

That was the guitar related stuff that I found interesting. I really missed Roland/Boss, Fractal Audio, Atomic and Headrush. Also most major guitar and amp brands were not present.

The Musikmesse is a shadow of what it was before. I spent more time at Pro Light and Sound, where most major companies were present.

Zylia Announces New Mobile Ambisonic Recording Solution

Zylia has introduced a Windows tablet-compatible version of their software for their ZM-1 microphone, giving users a mobile solution for 3rd order Ambisonics recording.

"Field recordings can yield unique audio samples that bring terrific character and richness to a variety of applications," says Tomasz ?ernicki co-founder and chief technology officer of Zylia. "Sound engineers use the ZM-1 for ambient sound recording in the field, and to create spatial soundscapes. Musicians heading to outdoor concerts and jam sessions use the microphone to capture live shows and one-of-a-kind collaborations. Now requiring only the microphone and tripod, a tablet, and headphones, field recording with the ZM-1 is unbelievably simple and convenient."

The ZYLIA ZM-1 is a compact mic, capable of delivering 48-kHz/24-bit resolution while capturing the full spatial sound scene. Boasting 19 MEMS microphones, the spherical array ,together with software, can auto-detect sound sources from around the microphone and capture that sound as separate tracks for further editing on a digital audio workstation.
