QuoteAnyone finding a good strategy to load up the effects banks? I set them but now I forgot what's what and it makes for some funny transitions

Run Boss Tone Studo for Katana to edit your tones at rehearsal -

then afer editing, save them into the amp for the gig.

then take a screen shot of the BTS screen below and print out as a reminder "cheat sheet" for where your FX are at the gig

Boss Tone Studio for Katana Owners Manual

Use the Boss Tone Studio to change the FX Order - these are the options:
(But note these rules )

* You can't change the placement of the reverb. It is always placed after AMP and the other effects.

* The EFFECT LOOP SEND/RETURN jacks are always placed after AMP.
QuoteLooks like the Effects block always being after the send/return.

Consider EFFECT CHAIN 3 - where only the Reverb is after the FX Loop

As an aid to understand the Katana 100 / Head -
Anytime you launch Boss Tone Studio and see the "AMP" block
- remember in reality its the "AMP> EXT. FX LOOP" block in the Katana hardware.

Questions:

Does DSP code for all of the various effects already reside within the Katana? Or does the BTS download from among the available effects to three effects slots available in the Katana?

And does that one BTS button really say, "LIBRALIAN?" Boss/Roland must do code reviews, but its amazing what can slip by for any development team.

Read the updated new Katana manual version 2 - goes into details of the default FX are

Buts its true - without Boss Tone Studio - you won't be able to edit the MOD/FX knob to become an EQ instead.

On page 8 it appears that download of the effects code from the PC to the Katana is occurring.

"- Easily download dedicated effects from Boss Tone Central (http://bosstonecentral.com) download site into the amp"

Cool, but it does preclude being able to change them up at the gig without a PC.

The Katana is being marketed to typical guitarists who buy typical tube guitar amps

Despite the marketing claim : "Add new effects to Katana using Boss Tone Studio and download new FX from the internet"  - some misunderstand this to be similar to Zoom G5N  or  Eventide H9 -

But in actuality , the Katana FX are DSP based, all are already there in the Katana firmware , and the BTS Editor simply reassigned the current active FX type in the Red/Green/Yellow DSP FX blocks for the 4 Katana presets.
Its no different than the method used for  other DSP MFX units ( GT-100, Fender Mustang, Vox ToneLab, etc) -

You can update effects deep settings in real time at gigs, If:

* you run Condor's Android app
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=20234.0

* or my Katana bridge
https://github.com/snhirsch/katana-midi-bridge
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=19707.0

* or use the latest PrimovaSound MIDX-20 USB<>MIDI box

As I and others continue our dive into the Katana sysex API, it's becoming more and more apparent that Katana borrows or outright reuses most of the GT100/GT001 specification.  Robin Van Boven has been doing some deep poking around and pointed out that the panel gain knob ends up tweaking an address mapped to preamp gain in the GT001 spec.  This implies strongly that the GT preamp modeling is included in Katana, but not directly exposed in BTS.  BTS abstracts it behind the front-panel knobs, but it does respond to direct setting.  There are very likely to be a bunch of undocumented effects and models in the Katana.  Should be fun exploring this.
