Has anyone tried the Roland  V-STUDIO 20?

Since Roland recently sold Sonar / Cakewalk to Gibson (Gibson also now owns Tascam ) - I would not recommend the Roland V-Studios as they were integrated very deeply with Sonar.

I expect future driver support for the Roland V-Studio to dry up in 2014 .

Read the reviews - as this is the typical pain friends have experienced with these.

Comments about Cakewalk V-Studio 20 Stereo Audio Interface:

Beware of this product, and all the v-studio products. I have used cakewalk products for years. When installing drivers, if you get an issue the driver install tries to uninstall. If you follow those prompts, you will not be able to use your computer with this product unless you have an image or back up to roll back with. Windows 8 drivers just came out, it works with the v-studio 20 editor and nothing else. Even more driver issues there. Can't use with Sonar X1, Guitar Tracks won't run on windows 8 and forget using FL Studio or Audition. I am not going to buy any cakewalk or Roland Product after this experience. Support is terrible.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Thanks for the info.
All I need is a nice easy interface to get started.

The FocusRite Interfaces work very well on multiple platforms

Read this thread

QuoteI have the GR-55

The GR-55 is also an audio interface - but the Roland USB Drivers do not provide as low Audio latency as a dedicated Audio Interface can provide.

I would say RME is still the best, most stable, crackle free Audio Interfaces  - They set the standard IMHO.

Can you use the GR-55 headphone jack to listen back to the recording?

Hi,
I can second on a Focusrite audio interface.

I use the Focusrite Scarlet 8i6 with Reason 7 DAW software and Panorama P4.

It all works very well with my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit PC.
I think it's a great audio interface. Uses USB 2 and VERY low latency.

Cheers,
Luke

Roland V-Studio 20 has not been supported in over 9 years

Windows 7 (64) is the most recent USB Driver

I doubt this will work on Windows 10

But if you have access to a Windows 7 computer , should be able to use any number of DAW apps to create MP3 (Reaper, Soundforge, Studio 1, Traktion, etc )
