Hello,
Sorry for what seems like a stupid question, but I'm a bass player somewhat new to using the GR-55. When playing just through normal PUs, I can't figure out how to program the Flange to the control pedal (or even expression pedal) to where I can go from normal guitar to effect...like you would using a stompbox.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
If you don't already have the GR-55FloorBoard graphical patch editor, I highly recommend downloading and installing it.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/files/GR-55/

You will also need the GR-55 USB drivers installed which you can download from the Roland/Boss sites.

Attached below is a bass Flanger patch file I made as an example.
Load this into the GR-55FloorBoard editor and into your GR-55.

It uses both MOD and MFX flangers.
Initially the patch is straight bass via normal pickups,

press the CTL pedal and it toggles the MOD Flanger effect (controlled from the CTL pedal Functions parameter settings).

Move the EXP pedal and the Flanger rate can be changed, this is controlled by Assign 1.

Press the EXP pedal toe switch (hard) and engage EXP2 settings, this will enable the MFX Flanger, using Assign 2

Move the EXP pedal and this will control the rate of both Flanger effects together, by using Assign 3 and the EXP2 control (which is EXP pedal with the EXP pedal switch engaged).
