Weeel Pitchbend Setup with FTP or MG2
« on: July 14, 2017, 10:28:16 PM »
Hi Forumites,

I've been experimenting with a cool pitchbend/mod wheel emulator app called 'Weeel'. I have tried to set it up with both FTP and MG2 to varying degrees of success.

Firstly, I create a Bluetooth network session between my iPhone and my MacBook Pro  so my iphone is viewable as a midi device (named the same as my iPhone).

FTP: assign iphone as midi input device in FTP app options.

It works but only on POLY mode (transmits pitch/mod data on a single chamnnel). MONO mode only receives data for the channel that Weeel is transmitting on. In my case channel
1, so I can only control anything played on the first string of the guitar.

Next...

MG2: assign iphone as midi input device in MG2 app options (standalone only).

It does not work at all. I don't know why.

So my questions...

1. Is there some way to get Weeel to transmit on channels 1-6 for FTP in MONO mode?

2. How do I make MG2 receive incoming data from the Weeel app?

*Wasnt sure where to post this as it's multifaceted. Admins please move the thread at will :)

BUMP...

I've been trying to solve this with Audiobus 3 and some Midiflow apps that are supposed to enable channel control...no luck yet. Any ideas?

Replying for my own benefit and perhaps that of others...

It's possible to send multichannel pitchbend data to synths with multichannel instruments (e.g. Sampletank, Kontakt, Omnisphere etc.) via Weeel --> Audiobus 3 + MidiFLow Adapter + MidiFLow Channels. --> MIDI out to computer over BT...I now have wireless virtual pitch/mod wheels...only took a year to figure it out!

Simultaneously have been trying to get the Guitar Wing to do something similar (and had quite a lot of success) but I'll have to find a program to handle the MIDI re-routing on the mac/pc as it's still only transmitting on one channel. Messed around with MIDI OX on PC but not really loving it yet.

More reports to come.

Here are some pics of an old Ibanez RG I've setup for FTP & GK-2 + iPhone 6...works for me :)

Address the process rather than the outcome.  Then, the outcome becomes more likely.   - Fripp
