FC-300 RRC2 Ethercon RJ-45 Connector housing - where do can I get a replacement?

I use the FC-300 to control my VG-99. Part of the housing of the RRC2 OUT Connector on the FC-300 somehow broke, so I can no longer control the VG-99. It looks like I just need a new socket assembly for the RRC2 Out Connector. Can I buy this part somewhere, and how hard is it to replace, as I want to avoid the horrendous charges if I take this to an official Roland dealer.

Thanks for your help,

M2

QuoteWas looking for pictures of the PCBs of the FC300 on the internet and couldn't find any. So I had to take one myself.

I did not expect to find this many boards. I found:
* a main board with the small buttons, the displays, and connectors for power and midi.
* a seperate board with the jack connections for external pedals
* two boards for the footswitches and leds
* a small board for the rrc2 connection
* a small board for the led of expression pedal 2
* two small boards for the potmeters of both expression pedals

QuoteYes, I have a trouble ticket with them.

in my experience Roland US "Trouble Tickets" online  will get you nowhere and weeks for a response

I pick up the telephone and talk directly to the Roland Customer Service Parts sales  - and say"

I'm an independent repair shop and want to purchase   the FC-300 RRC2 Board with Connector

and they typically sell this to me  - I estimate it will cost $50

Here in USA  - Roland / Boss Customer service is still in the dark ages - they respond to telephone calls

Part of the reason Reeves Gabrels dropped using the VG-8 at live gigs is because of the complete lack of Roland Customer Support when he needed emergency GK 13 pin cables and replacement jacks mid tour while touring with David Bowie back in the late 1990's

QuoteFrom 1996 on, I started to think of the PA as my amp, even though I had two 600-watt power amps and four 4x12s on stage. The cabs weren't miked, they were just for monitoring; everything went straight from the VG-8 to the house. I had three VG-8s: A, B, and a spare. I rewrote all their presets. Since I got no help from Roland, I painted them so you couldn't tell what they were.

Saw the Earthling Tour with Reeves and yes, he indeed painted them over.

Hi Elantric,

Sorry for the dumb question but why do I need to buy the entire board when it's just that the bottom part of the black plastic housing inside the connector jack itself has somehow chipped off?

Typically the FC-300's  RRC2 PC board has damage   or you damage it during unsoldering - resoldering  the new replacement Ethercon RJ45 jack

Thanks, Elantric. I will work up the courage to open the board.  By holding the inserted cable at a certain angle I can intermittently get the board to power up and communicate with the VG-99. What it does as it is currently broken - it powers up the FC-300 but the FC-300 does not revert to the current patch in the VG-99 and the two do not communicate. That's why I am hoping it's just the Neutrik connector and perhaps my guitar/amp tech could do the work.

I called Roland to order this part and FYI they do not sell this single board any more, you have to special order multiple internal boards as a sngle package, takes 4 to six weeks and is $245 dollars.
