Hi there guys!

This is my first post here, I hope I'm publishing it in the right category.

So, I'm a bass player and have recently bought a GK-3B and a GR-55. One of the things I'm trying to do is to divide the strings for two different PCM percussive tones, in order to achieve certain sound effects; however, one of the tones I'm using has the percussion sound I want in only one specific note which is in my low-B string, and the tracking in this part of the instrument is really poor (not sure if tracking is exactly the issue - what I'm having is that famous issue with ghost notes, which I hope to solve as soon as I can get my hands on a subsonic filter for the GR-55). So I was wondering, is there a way to "transpose" drum notes to another place of my fretboard, like perhaps two strings higher? Please bear in mind that these drum sounds are different for each note, so changing the pitch doesn't really work for me.

Thanks, guys!

Sorry, forgot to mention: I'm using Gumtown's FloorBoard, so if you know how to do that, feel free to share the steps on that software (whatever way of achieving that would help me a lot :-)

"Transposing GR-55 drum notes for better tracking?

Not possible AFAIK - not even with third party MIDI tools

Why?

Because the GR-55's PCM Tone engine only responds to the GK 13 pin GK input ( which is multi-channel analog - NOT MIDI (blame fake news * )  does NOT respond to ANY MIDI Note on/off messages

others make use with what Roland provided

EDIT

read this thread for using GR-55 Alt tunings to redefine the Drum trigger notes

Actually I recall an old thread on transposing drums...    Check this out:

Fun old thread.   Transpose didn't exist, but alt tunings did, so that's how they did it.

This was done more for performance reasons & ease of use, not really tracking.

Address the process rather than the outcome.  Then, the outcome becomes more likely.   - Fripp

Awesome, alternate tuning did the trick!

But I gave up trying to do drums on my bass... that pesky "ghost notes" problem is really getting in my way to make it sound good enough. Anyway, this is subject for another post, which I'll write soon.

Thanks a lot, guys!
