Welcome to the group SLIM JIM! :)
You can't use mp3s, that may be your problem.
The files must be a specific format (*.wav or *.aiff) and sample rate (44.1kHz).
The GR-55 is also fussy about some types of thumb drive, i hope you are using only the side USB port.
CAN I USE MY MEDIA PLAYER TO DOWNLOAD ONTO THE USB THUMB DRIVE????
WAV FORMAT................DO YOU HAVE TO FORMAT THE THUM DRIVE????
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

Windows Media player will typically save song files in *.WMA format, you need to probably convert your song files to *.WAV format and then copy and paste to the thumb drive.
You can use iTunes or Audacity to convert MP3s to Wav or AIFF.
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)
How to Convert MP3 or AAC Files to AIFF Format with iTunes:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1348 (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1348)
The GR-55 Player needs these file types:
File format: WAV, AIFF
Sampling frequency: 44.1 kHz
Bit depth: 8/16/24 bits
The Thumb drive should be FAT-32 format too.
Most DAW's will also let you import mp3's etc, you can then edit them to suit (think intro to Pink Floyd - Time as an example) and export as WAV files. You can have a lot of fun with this feature. ;D
This is a great feature on the GR-55.
I learned the hardway that my USB thumbdrive needed to be formatted FAT 32 to upgrade my firmware, once done I put some music in wave format, cool.
Question: Is there a way to rewind when learning from songs?
The Page < > buttons skip 10 seconds with each press.
:) Great! Thanks.
