GR55 and guitar Volume control PROBLEM

I've got a GR55.  I bought the GraphTech Ghost bridge and hexpander.  The installation went really well with my guitar and everything functions the way it should except:

When I change a patch or bank,  the volume pot for controlling the GR55 on my guitar is ignored by the GR55 unless I rotate the pot slightly, then it works.  Signal still passes but it doesn't default to the level set on my guitar with each patch or bank change.

Anyone else having this problem?  I've got an email to GraphTech to see if the Hexpander is passive for this function... meaning it goes straight to the 13pin DIN without going through any active processing.
