Computer advice needed: to future-proof my music MacBook Pro a bit by keeping a previos Mac OS X installer or two around, in case I need it to access older music gear.

I saw in this site a post or two that advises us to download an installer for Mac OS X, but my searches via this site or Google lead to 1000s of words. Can anyone here please point me to info or a link on how a Mac user can legally find and download an installer for, say, Yosemite or El Capitan?

I think I read, here, that we only have about 5 more days to get yosemite. That's what I'm using now, so I'd like to get that.

Thanks so much! Downloaded Yosemite. Bookmarked both links on Delicious: http://del.icio.us/mooncaine

BTW, anyone here is welcome to follow my delicious bookmarks, not that I'm curating it or touting it. Just willing to share it. It's my catchall for URLs I want to bookmark, because I can easily write a description and some tags, access them anywhere, and also save the whole list locally, with all that info, as a backup.

If you have not done so already, I strongly suggest you put each version of OS X installer on a USB stick.  I have one for each from Mavericks onward; they come in handy at times!

Make sure to download all the updates to that OS too. So you have the latest and greatest.

NOT so easy.

Hmmm..
"The good news is that it's pretty easy to pick up a copy of OS X Yosemite from the Mac App Store - as long as you have previously 'purchased' it."
Yosemite is NOT available if you havent purchased it before.

I was able to get it here..after many popups and such.
