Anyone has a patch for that song or solo where you could just hold the ctl to get the machine gun effect?

I'm sure its doable with the gr55 since Steve Stevens was using a synth guitar on this album.

That would be an awesome patch

Not a guitar synth.   Guitar thru Lexicon PCM41 rack FX with reverb/processing.

I have a little toy lightsaber I got at a garage sale for a dollar that runs on watch batteries.

If I put that device above my bridge pickup thru my live rig it sounds JUST LIKE the darned record.

But, check this out:

It apparently was a toy ray gun!

I got it all wrong, I thought this was a synth effect

Cool that raygun Idea or lightsaber.

Theres another guy talking about a flanger, I wonder how it would sound... I'll try that

Thanks for the link. It was nice to read

Watch Steve Stevens grab the toy gun and hold it near his bridge PU  at the 3:05 minute mark below

He did the same technique when I caught  live show back in 1982

This works too - just hold it near your magnetic PU

I just went close with the flanger all buttons to the floor, but the flanger is not fast enough  >:(
I should buy a laser toy or key chain with the proper noise. To Check this.

I used to have an Electronic  Noise maker Toy Paddle, that made the Rebel Yell Solo "sputtering sound" but its been lost for years.

But I ordered this 8 Sound Electronic Key Chain Noisemaker an hour ago and just got a message from the seller that this has just been shipped.

Should make similar sounds as this  -

Elantric, You bought the last one   ;D

I get the idea thought. I'll Check further for others later this week.

Buying a key chain for a song, this is a first  :D

Idol wrote this song with his guitarist, Steve Stevens, who came up with some unique sounds on the track. The ray-gun effect on the solo he created using a Lexicon PCM 41 digital delay processor, but he later figured out a way to get a more distinctive sound using an actual ray-gun. By tweaking a toy ray-gun, he was able to hold it to his pickups and generate these strange sounds. His "ray gun guitar" became one of the most popular spots of a Billy Idol concert.

I have a Rebel Yell patch in the GR-55 bass mode patches.
I play this on bass, the slicer type guitar intro by playing an open G string, and the Raygun sound when the Exp pedal is toe down.
