Usual Kickstarter caution applies... Looks like it could be an interesting complement to the battery based beach busker kit...

Ever tried to use a device only to find that the battery has died? Let's be honest - it sucks. With the SOUNDBOKS, you'll never have to stop partying. Our batteries are proven to provide 30 hours of sound in a single charge. Each SOUNDBOKS purchase comes with two batteries that are external and swappable. We've chosen a unique chemistry, named LiFePO4, that can deliver under any circumstances - from the freezing winters to the burning summers. And with a charging time of only 3 hours, you'll never have to stop playing.

Terrible idea!   Most music is too loud already and now they want to invade the hills and beaches with it.

EDIT: But this whole thread is now 2 years old - and in 2019 there is a whole new range of high wattage portable battery powered amplification systems

My first reaction is "cool" then I'm in the "bad idea" boat, I like this link:

From a musician standpoint, you could easily do little Kyuss-like "free in the desert" concerts, but it seems targeted to non musicians, so that would mean lack of manners loudness wars, an aural form of second-hand smoke if you will.As far as crazy loud battery powered and tuff tuff tuff the older Anchor Audio stuff is tops IMO.

I like the Roland Cube products. They work well and last a long time.

SOUNDBOKS are launching the third generation of their loudspeakers, namely "The New Soundboks". Nowadays, not only in Denmark a term, the speaker stands for real party sound with a powerful bass foundation, but before we go into the technical details, this here:

The idea arose from a garage project by three students who wanted to build a battery-powered speaker with lots of brawn for the 2015 Roskilde Festival. Said and done. 119 dB pushed out the prototype on the site. The resulting have-will requests were followed by crowdfunding via Kickstarter and, as is known, the Soundboks ( for the test ) and the Soundboks 2 ( for the test ). There are now SOUNDBOKS in over 40 countries and the company is based in Copenhagen and Los Angeles.

Today the third generation " The New SOUNDBOKS " launches . So what's new?

Among other things, the battery life has been improved, the sound optimized and several systems can be linked wirelessly. The maximum sound pressure level has increased again to 126 dB (122 dB for the SB2). The XLR / jack combo jacks in addition to the stereo inputs now allow direct connection of mixers, mics and instruments. There is a Pulse Reflex port and a numeric Team ID panel.

Internally, two 10-inch woofers and a 1-inch tweeter r are installed, the amp comes with 3x 72 watt RMS and the loudspeaker is designed to last 40 hours at medium volume with one battery charge or 5 hours at full load before the 12th , 8 V, 7.8 Ah Lithium battery needs to be replaced or recharged. The frequency response is specified at 40 Hz to 20 kHz. The box supports the Bluetooth 5.0 protocol . Up to 5 Soundboks speakers can be wirelessly connected in series and there is a tripod flange for the body.

I've already been able to listen to the SB1 and SB2 and have reluctantly relinquished it, to be honest. They are the real alarm and hold long, especially since additional batteries can be purchased. The Soundboks weighs but also stately 15 kg and measures 66 x 43 x 32 cm. Clamping under your arm is so difficult. The optional carrying straps "Backpack Belt" beats with 129 euros in the cash.

The following inputs and outputs are available on the device:

2x XLR combo mic / instrument
1x 3.5mm jack stereo input
1x 3.5 mm jack stereo output
From 16.08.2019 the device can be pre-ordered. Cost 899 euros. Delivery in early September.

Other accessories include the Batteryboks (149 euros) and the backpack (129 euros).

The New SOUNDBOKS features

The loudest, battery-powered Bluetooth speaker on the market
126 dB maximum volume
Danish design
40 hours of battery life at medium volume
single Bluetooth speaker with replaceable battery (with one hand)
robust, splash-proof and stable against shocks.
transportable (15.4 kg per SOUNDBOKS BACKPACK or on the integrated handle)
Connection of several speakers; Wireless or wired via the Team Up feature for up to 5 speakers
Pro panel with connectors for XLR, 1/4 "and 1/8" (microphones, DJ mixers, instruments and more)
