Ideas on how to achieve this 'dying battery effect' in a VG-99 patch?

As an aside, I actually notice when i run guitar through my tape machines mic input, it gives a similar effect to this.  Any idea why?

I guess I would try using a distortion, set it's distortion amount very high and it's output very low, and maybe even experiment with a ring modulator with a very low frequency.

I'm not sure on the VG-99 if it has input level settings on the assigns like the Gt series does,
but using three assigns with input level assigned to increase the compression and distortion drive, and decrease the level slightly might do it.

The VS-840EX definetely had this effect as part of the cosm distortion effects, I'll see if I can find out what it was to see if there's an equivalent on the VG-99.  It sounded pretty convincing to me on the 840.
