The brightness of the display is way too much!
As far as I know you can only change the contrast, but that doesn't help much.

Any ideas to change this?

apply a gel diffuser strip or cut out a small rectangle from old laptop computer privacy filter and place over the GT-1 LCD

myself I like the bright GT-1 LCD- i can read it in the sun

I'm answering an old topic, but actually I find it useful to share my solution, because when you work with this device in the evening or in a dark environment, the brightness of the LCD screen is annoying !
I opened it without much hope, but we are lucky, the lighting of the LCD goes through a connector. So it's easy if you're a bit of a do-it-yourselfer to insert a 100 Ohms resistor for example, to attenuate this harmful lighting. It's just perfect for me now, still readable, but less tiring! And a very cheap mod...
Enjoy ! (the resistor is inside the heat shrink tubing and I found a spare connector that just fit)

awesome job on finding that. im assuming that does not affect the brightness of the stomp "boxes"?

I found turning the LCD contrast up cured the white glare problem, And no money spent.
