If I wanted to play a song down a half step without tuning my guitar down, would pitch shifter be the right effect to use? I'm using it set to -1 but problem is I'm hearing both the regular AND down shifted sounds so it sounds horrible. I have effect set to 100 but still hearing both. How do you get it so you only hear the down shifted sound?

Don't think you will get away with that - you would need Hex based system (GP10 - Vg8 / 88 / 99 ) where strings are processed individually - the generic pitch shift can't cope well with polyphonic signal

Turn the Direct Level Param on the Pitchshifter down to Zero you will hear only the pitch shifted sound then.

Not sure if the GT-1 has the Pedal Bend effect,
on the GT-100, it used to work better than the pitch shifter for down tuning.
Having the Pedal bend set so the pitch change is fixed at -1 (min pitch and max pitch bend ranges).

I have tried it for a lead part. I played with standard tuning but transposed half step down then while for the solo I pressed the pedal and I played as if I were in my learned '440 tuning' positions and it went fine including bend notes. However I decided to tune the whole guitar down half step because pedal bend is not poly it's mono and you need to be extra clean to avoid strange artifacts... So I decided not to take risks.

Thanks, yes lowering the Direct to zero fixed it, and yes it doesn't sound good enough for chords.
