I'm trying to use a GT-100 and GT-001 with Audacity, Pure Data, and Jack. My laptop recognizes the GT-100, and Jack recognizes it as a valid MIDI device, but attempts to use it for usb audio with the ALSA driver aren't working. Audacity locks up when I select it as my input device and Pure Data spits out an error message about audio being locked up. I'm running the latest Ubuntu MATE, and as far as I can tell ALSA is up to date. Sorry if this is a common question; I've been searching for information on this for days with no clear answer. What am I missing here?  Thanks!

Apparently Boss GT-100 with FW 2.00 present problems for Boss GT-100 Linux use

QuoteAfter thinking about it some more, Roland has released a new USB driver for
Windows to go with their V2.03 firmware upgrade. So, I am led to think that a
new USB driver will be required in Linux as well. Can anyone help supporting
this driver as part of Alsa? If this is wrong mailing list for new driver
request, please point out the right mailing list.

I'd actually found that info already but since those posts are from 2014, I'd hoped some progress had been made. Bummer. I can still do what I want to do on Windows but pd has much better latency on Linux.

I wonder what the chances are that the GT-001 will work when the 100 doesn't? Guess I'll find out when I get one ordered.

Chances are about the same as the GT-100, Boss USB audio is not 'class compliant', and ALSA works only with 1/2 channel devices, since the GT-100 ver 2, it is now a 4 channel device, as is the GT-001.

might have better luck with mac osx on the latency.

I'm having the same problem with ver 2 boss gt-100.

I wonder why you saying:

while ALSA wiki states that E-mu 0404 USB, which is 4-in/4-out usb interface is fully supported. Is it differs from GT-100 4-in/4-out?

The Emu is from Creative Labs

the GT-100 is from Roland

a bit  like Chevy vs Toyota

Yes, I understand the difference between Creative and Roland.
My question was about "ALSA works only with 1/2 channel devices" - is this really true? Is this mean that I wouldn't be able to use my multichannel usb interface to record more than 2 channels in daw?
